Kennedy Range Loop Road turn off - WA

The Kennedy Range 4WD Loop Track is a remote, high-clearance 4WD route through Kennedy Range National Park, providing access to the much less visited western side of the range before crossing the plateau and emerging on the eastern side near the main visitor area.The full circuit from Gascoyne Junction is approximately 270km and a minimum of 2 days should be allowed. Expect slow, rough and highly variable conditions including rocky sections, washouts, sandy country, creek crossings and a crossing of the Gascoyne River. There is no mobile coverage, fuel or other services along the route and travellers need to be fully self-sufficient.The western side and range crossing are suitable for experienced 4WD travellers only. No towing of caravans is permitted, however short draw-bar quality offroad camper trailers may be ok. Conditions can change considerably following rain and the track may be closed.A few sites on the escarpment are declared and marked “no camping”. Chaffcutters Spring in the southern section is a dedicated camping area (no facilities, no booking or payments required).The western side of the Kennedy Range and 4WD Loop Track reopened on 2 July 2026 after a long closure. It was also closed briefly after that after a weather event but as of 7th September has reopened.
