Noosa National
Park is a coastal conservation area located at Palm Grove Circuit, Noosa Heads, Queensland, Australia. It is one of the Sunshine Coast’s most popular natural attractions, drawing visitors for its ocean
views, rainforest
trails and accessible wildlife experiences close to town.Natural featuresCovering more than 4,000 hectares, the
park encompasses headlands, open forest, and pockets of rainforest around Lake Weyba, Peregian and Coolum. It shelters rare and threatened species, including koalas, glossy black-cockatoos and ground parrots, within a mosaic of coastal dunes and rocky cliffs.
Walking tracksThe
park offers several
well-marked tracks ranging from the short Palm Grove Walk—a 1.1 km family-friendly loop through lush piccabeen palms and hoop pines—to the scenic Coastal Track leading past Tea Tree Bay, the Fairy Pools and Hell’s Gates
lookout. Many
trails start from the Noosa Headland day-use area at the end of
Park Road. Visitor experienceVisitors can enjoy swimming, surfing, picnicking and wildlife watching, often spotting koalas along the main paths. The National
Park Information Centre provides maps and advice on local flora, fauna and safety. The
park’s close proximity to Hastings Street makes it one of Australia’s few national parks accessible on foot from a major resort area. Conservation and accessManaged by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, Noosa National
Park plays a vital role in protecting coastal ecosystems under urban pressure. Entry is free and the
park is open year-round, with daylight hours recommended for exploring. It stands as a model for sustainable
recreation and environmental stewardship in the region.
