The foundations of 22m waterwheel used for gold battery
The wheel was mounted on large stone foundations and was set into motion by a supply of
water from a race. The wheel was 22m in diameter and had 220 bucks, it drove the main shaft for the battery stamper and was in operation from the 1880's till 1904.
There are information boards that tell the history of this
water wheel and the personal lives that were effected from injuries sustained when the wheel was operational.
In and around the
ruins, there is located old rusted out pipes that were built specifically for the
water wheel, located also are the bulk heads and foundations of the old steam boilers that were remarkable in their bush construction.
