The Abercrombie Caves Campground is a set in a delightful area with a creek running through the
camp and plenty of shade and grass to pitch a tent or pull up the van. The site is well established and managed by the NSW National Parks & Wildlife Service featuring 60 sites for campers. Facilities include flush toilets, coin operated electric bbqs, wood bbqs (byo wood), fire rings, hot showers, drinking water, picnic tables, cafe/kiosk and is full wheelchair accessible. Accessible by conventional vehicles on sealed roads, there is camping to suit camper trailers and caravans.
Camp fees apply.
Visitors to this campground typically come to visit the Abercrombie Caves, which feature the largest
limestone arch in the Southern hemisphere. However, just the camping, bush walking, swimming, fishing, birdwatching, fossicking and relaxing is sufficient!
The latest brochure on the
cave tour opening times, camping fees and other relevant information about enjoying the area can be read online here
http://members.abercrombiecaves.com/info.pdfA map showing the layout of the campground and access to the Caves is here -
http://members.abercrombiecaves.com/campmap.pdfThe entrance to the caves is easy walking distance from the campsites. A mud map with scale here
http://members.abercrombiecaves.com/walks.pdf, shows distance from camps to each of the
cave sites. As you can see, you can enter the
cave within 750m of the visitor centre or the round trip out to Stable Arch and back is just 1.75km so should be easily possible for most people including children.
