I would like to travel to Dales Gorge and spend some time in the Karaijini National Park.
My question is after staying at Dales gorge i was told there is a sealed road from Dales gorge to Tom Price is this correct.
Cheers

Dales Gorge is one big camping area with separate camp sites, or was when we were there, a great place, enjoy.
Cheers.

The camp sites nearer the entrance would be somewhat cramped for your rig, whereas the sites up the back are larger and more spaced. Hopefully one of these will be available for you.
Enjoy your stay - it is a beautiful place

Hi Humpback

The road from the Great Northern Highway to Tom Price is a good sealed road. The Karijini Visitor Centre and Dales campground are accessed by a few kilometres of unsealed road, and roads to the other gorges with the central section of the park are accessed by unsealed roads which sometime corrugate with traffic. Make sure to go to Hamersley Gorge which is accessed from the western side of the park. It is different to the other gorges.

I have attached a brochure which has a map of the roads and features of the park.

Humpback,

The road from Karijini Drive into Dales Gorge Campground and also to the Visitors Centre is sealed.

The roads going elsewhere from Dales Gorge (Weano and Joffre Gorges et al) are all unsealed and can vary from smooth to horribly corrugated depending on how lucky you are, but all are good unsealed roads if you drive to the conditions. No 4WD required.

I concur with Motherhen regarding Hamersley Gorge.

If you plan stay at Tom Price (at the Tom Price Tourist Park), take in a tour of the mine. Also, if you have a 4WD, drive up to the top of Mt Nameless. A great view of the mine and town are to be had from up there. Not a difficult climb, just a slow one.

We did a three month tour up the middle and around the West Coast where we saw Kakadu, Litchfield, the Bungle Bungles etc and some of the most beautiful sights we saw were at Karijini NP. Spend some good time there, don't rush. Walk down into the Gorges, especially Fortescue Falls and behind it, the Fern Pool.

Thanks for the clarification of the the sealed roads WBS. This is shown as sealed on the brochure I posted. It was unsealed but well maintained when we visited, but the roads linking the gorges were corrugated.

We (and a number of others) swam at Fern Pool every afternoon to cool down after the day's walking, as it was quite hot even in May/June.

The road between dales and weano are fairly corrugated as of a few days ago. The water n the pools are very cold.
