Expensive - budget for excess of $3 a litre.

I think it was about $3.45 at Easter.

Given the small amount of traffic and the remoteness I thought that was very reasonable.

The alternative is to carry an extra 80 to 100 L of fuel everywhere you go just so you can save yourself a few bucks once a year as you drive past the bowser at Well 33. Makes no sense to me.

I know this probably doesn't help much but I filled up there back in August 2009 and it was $3.40 per litre. There is no bowser per se but rater you will be filled from 44 gallon drums. Fuel back up the road a little at Punmu (to the west) was also $3.40 and then in Warburton where the next supply is was $2.05. If you allow an additions 20% then you should be in the ball park.

Last year we filled up at Kunawaritji fuel was $3.40 a litre.
It was from a bowser under cover in their "Service Station".
If you have already heard $3.50 I would not be surprised.
Great people there and the shop was well stocked with the normal grocery lines plus good fresh fruit and veges and Magnum's.
An oasis of a different kind in the outback, in a great part of our country

Thanks Gaynor. I emailed Raelene :)

We have plenty of diesel here and the price is $3.40 per litre. We have a general store which supplies most things, we get fresh fruit & veg in every fortnight. We also have accommodation available, units that sleep 3 people for $100.00 per night. Each unit have cooking facilities, T.V., microwave, fridge.

If you don’t want to stay you can use the showers and washing machine. $5.00 for shower and $3.00 per washing load.

The track is pretty good from what we hear, no damage from the rain, a couple of puddles but nothing to worry about. We have been getting quite a few coming through, its been very busy. ‘

If you need any other information just let us know. Look forward to seeing you in August.

P.S. You might like to keep an eye out for two cyclists who expect to be on the Canning in August, in their individual capacities. Both cycling north.

The new bloke I only heard about yesterday is Australian, the other is from Europe. The European has asked me not to broadcast his intentions until he is on the track from 20 August as it puts too much pressure on him at home.

The other bit of advice is take cash. Generally the Satellite connection is reliable, however it was down the 1st time I went through.

No EFTPOS - no Fuel - unless you've got the readies.

We were in Kunawarritji on the 13th and 14th of this month (July) and from memory it was $3.40 a litre for diesel. All typical payment options were available but as we had taken cash "just in case" we paid with cash. He even opened up "after hours" for us without any sign of a hassle. Very helpful and in pouring rain to boot. I can't find the receipt and the memory is a little fuzzy from the corrugations but I think that I am correct.

It was also raining and nice to stay in a clean comfy real soft and warm bed. Also there are about 5 or 6 rooms and nice hot shower for a welcome change. I had to exit the CSR and Bill checked the road conditions with the locals and the mine said their road was fine to use. Bill and Raelene were most helpful. I hope to get clearance to go and do the other half one day but I think that is a bit too much to ask for.
