Which makes me wonder what other campers do when a week of rain sets in and flogs down at their destination?
Pack up and go
home?
Play games and cards till ya nuts?
Go to the nearest shopping centre? and argue about money?
pull something off the 4by and spend the next three days trying to put the Bludger back on?
Sit and empty a few flagons
If its just the two of you, you can't do that all day Can You!!!.??
So whatda you Do??
Cheers Axle.

"Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet"...
Having said that I'm a weather watcher so I try and build a continuous picture in my mind as to what to expect a few days done the track by looking at the bigger picture and adjust plans accordingly, in need.
Cheers, Baz

Adding, you are right, very wet in
Sydney presently.
Hopefully those that are needing it are getting it also. Was out near
Louth a few days back, and they only got enough to settle the dust...
Cheers, Baz

Emerald Qld rang to-day so excited about it raining up there.
Yeah! camping in the rain can paint some different pictures.LOL.

Hey, Landy - In and around
Tamworth, the picture is a bit less damp than on the coast. Not a bit envious - we can do without the winds, and torrential downpours, but just 38mm this "rain event". And, the 4th month with above average since April last year, and only the 6th since June 2013.
Be nice to have some consistency, but doesn't look likely for a bit!

Well, Axle, about 40 years ago we had such a holiday. There we were, isolated, camped among the dunes north of Port Macquarie and an East Coast Low (what we're experiencing now) hit with a vengeance. Road was impassable, ferry at Port was broken, nowhere to go.
Had plenty of food in the boot of the car (Mazda RX4 coupe) but no water. We dug a hole in the sand beside the tent, put a bucket in it and collected all the water we needed off the tent.
A good tent, dry inside, but couldn't keep ourselves dry, so forgot about clothes, put them in the car too. We lived like natives for close on 2 weeks, and got sunburned bums on the few days the sun did shine. Played cards, ate and drank and ....
But a great holiday... and surprise, surprise, first child was born on schedule :-)
Cheers

Oh, we walked on the beach and collected pipis, too - which we ate. Pipis in garlic butter and white wine. Pipis in pasta sauce, with and without pasta .. mmmmmmm.

Well if it's a bit wet searching for frogs is always good....here's a few I have found when "a week of rain sets in and flogs down" (though generally just a day or two is all that required)...
Slender Brown Tree Frog - Margaret River -WA
Plonking Frog - Mt Forrest
Quacking Froglet - Margaret River - WA
Western Banjo Frog - Margaret River
Notaden nicolisi - De Grey River WA
What ever you do don't sit around lamenting the situation.
Cheers
Greg

This is what is happening around here. I am typing this on
battery power, don't know when mains power will return.
Quote from that link "SES crews had to carry out a number of swift-water rescues after floodwaters swept through the Stroud
campground in the Hunter." If you look on Google maps you will see the show ground to the north of town on flat land between two creeks.
If you go to this link you can listen to the local ABC through the live link on the RHS. They are on emergency
services broadcast, regular programmes have been suspended.
Now signing off to conserve battery.

You were getting all that on land, and I was getting thrown around at sea on that cruise boat. I think we had it better, looking at the news reports since we landed.

The internet died Wednesday morning just before the generator arrived. The power was restored 1430 Friday. The internet came back an hour or so ago.
