Just saw this on Ron Moon’s Facebook page.

The Central Land Council has advised that the Colson, Madigan and Hay River Tracks are closed in the Northern Territory for the remainder of 2020.
That's the latest news from DEW Desert Parks SA.

Amazing how things have changed in 5 months. At the beginning of the year I was planning a Madigan crossing with several mates for August. 2 months ago, we decided on the French Line. 1 month ago, we thought perhaps just a NSW coastal trip. 2 weeks ago, we were settling for camping along the Murray River. Now, we're stuck in Melbourne and can't go anywhere.

Its certainly been a bugger of a year.....for us the Big Red Bash followed by Arnhem Land has turned into "stuck in Tasmania".
Mind you, with the way things are going in Victoria and NSW, Tassie is a pretty good place to be right now!!

We had an "epic" trip organised for May/June.

Into SA, up Goog's to Coober Pedy, Kulgera, then start of Madigan, down Colson to NE shotline & into the Geocentre & The Hill. A bit more cross country, then east to Birdsville.

Ahh, just a non existent memory now! Except for week where I pulled the "over 70 stunt", we've worked every week during the virus, so both the bank a/c & ATO are happy. Been down the Diamantina River Road a few times, out to Swords Range & a few other places in the Shire.

Just dreaming about the next trip,
Bob.

Seen it all, Done it all.
Can't remember most of it.

G'day Explorers

Yes it's been a weird year and no doubt everyone who had plans to travel has had to shelve or rethink their plans but with good management and a liberal dose of luck restrictions and hopefully state borders will open and some form of normality might come back into our existence, only time will tell.

Nice to know you are still 'out and about' Bob.

A funny but sad thing happened just yesterday, my wife and I were 'out and about' for the day, we were camped up at a local waterhole, the billy on the boil when a vehicle rolled up but stopped well away from where we were, eventually the bloke approached us on foot, but hesitated and as such the conversation we had was difficult possibly because of the noise of the fast flowing water over the rocks in the watercourse or maybe the breeze through the trees, or even the engine noise of his vehicle, I wasn't sure at the time.

Conversation had, the bloke leaves, then I say's to the wife, that bloke takes 'social distancing' seriously, she then replies, maybe not so much social distancing because of the Covid virus but more so because of the Bowie knife in your hand and the sturdy walking stick across your lap, hmm amazing how a 2 metre long piece of bush wood and a 40 year old knife in plain sight can change a situation and conversation.

Hi Bob, Our trip to Eucla then up the Connie Sue to Warburton then Blackstone and Yulara seems lost.
Began to consider putting the Troopy up on blocks but we may find somewhere appealing in Qld in the next couple of weeks. No, not Winton! lol

Cheers
Allan

We had a central NSW road trip planned for 2 weeks time but now canned. May struggle to get back in to Qld by the middle of August.
So we are off to see some NP in western Qld.
Hell Hole gorge, Idailia, Welford and Lochern.
Back to the redlands via some sandstone bits between Springsure and Taroom.
Rod.

The most positive thing to come out of this Covid Cr*p is that we are all looking at our own states a lot closer than we have for years. My only small problem as a rural Victorian is that our Piggyback Camper has a canvas roof, and that, plus the standard Vic. Winter weather do not add up to comfort overnight. Stay safe, stay distant and enjoy the outdoors, even if not the planned trip.
Ps Wife and I had Great Central Rd, Pilbara, Steep Point & Esperance via Perth and Sth. West planned so understand your pain
