Nick, in the video I like how he "disposes of it responsibly" by passing it to the disembodied hand of the phantom dunnyman!

We await your upcoming review of the product..... video of course. lol

Yes good point ..we would only want it for no 2's in those restricted area's & not for general use. where portaloos are required to camp, we have no problems using toilets provided at campgrounds or taking a wander into the bush where appropriate and dealing with the toilet paper ..one of my pet hates dunnie paper everywhere..

It is everyone’s hate for that bush confetti, but on the positive side of that, that toilet paper will eventually decompose, where as plastics is here for ever.

But that’s the point, those people that do not do the right thing make it bad for everyone else.

Toilet paper or bush confetti is bad enough, but these are the type of people that would litter these places with plastic that will not decompose.

Hi Nick

They look like the most expensive toilet system to buy and the expense of on going costs of continual buying more and more bags just to have a s...t

Today everyone talks about things being environmentally friendly....these would have to be the most unfriendly thing to buy.

Tell me one thing, where are you going to store all those bags of sh.. when you are going bush for extended time?

If you do not want to squat down, there are a number of good toilet setups on the market.

You still need a shovel, and metho to help burn you toilet paper afterwards.

We have a big enough problem with plastics in the world at the moment, and that toilet system is doing the exact opposite of trends to remove plastic from the environment.

Then another question you need to ask, how many people with these systems are just not going to dump those bags in a bin?

Just my thoughts, but something in my books that is not friendly to the environment.

Ideally, place your plastic bag(s) in a bin, then dig a hole and burn the bin before buying it. Be sure to erect a sign warning dingos to not dig the contents up at risk of a fine. lol

Such a sealed plastic bag in a bin will be a much BIGGER plastic bag before the bin is empty. I am with Axle on this. Try and get an inflated balloon containing that stuff out of a bin without incident. It could blow at any moment, highway bin service folk would love you I am sure, and have a definite desire to meet you too. They sure would have DNA evidence.

I think some of you guys missed the part where Mrs St... said that the scoop of powder added to the bag renders the doings inoffensive and hygienically disposable in ordinary garbage facilities.

A while ago I researched a similar poo disposal system for lightweight campers. Same process, you can carry it out in your backpack before disposing of it in general rubbish facilities.

Still far easier and better for the environment to dig a hole, burn the toilet paper and fill it back in.

So what is the alternative ??
If you watched the videos the plastic bag is then placed in a rubbish bin when back in Civilization and apparently it has no odor and has been turned to some sort of gel ..as I replied in the previous thread this was only to be used for no2s & when we are in those locations where portaloos are required to camp..when we are in the bush like we have done all our days of camping we would poop in the bush .

Nick

I see you are a fellow South Aussie and be aware how we are leading the Nation with the eventual removal of all plastics for the sake of the environment that recently started with plastic straws, cutlery, plates and within the next 12 months , coffee cups, takeaway food containers and eventually all forms of plastic bags.

Toilet paper is bad enough in the bush, and the people that do this are the type of people that do not care for the environment and the type of people that litter regardless of it paper, tin or glass.

When you look at the cost of those toilets, then the continual ongoing costs of replacement plastic bags what according to a Google search are not cheap, you would be better off buying a portable cassette porta potti, where you do not have to buy dreaded plastic bags, and where you can empty the porta potti cleanly and environmentally friendly at the many dump points that are located around the country.

Just found this from Drifta camping & 4wd
Not that expensive if buy toot & 10 bags $165
Or the large container $ 125 ~ 120 poops ~ $ 1 p/poop

Cleanwaste drifta

If you can believe the review most people are satisfied giving a high rating.. putting a side the plastic bag issues , i don't think is a major factor when considering how often it would be used

Cost aside, if only semi solids are caught in the fantastic plastic bag, at the time of delivery the humans usually expel liquids too. If that isn't going in the bag, how do you do the sorting and catching of liquid waste at the time of high stress and delivery. Does the unit come with a bucket for blokes and a "special designed shaped funnel" for female use? Are the reviews believable?

The powder turns semi solids and liquid into solid gel substance that apparently doesn't smell or leak .. note you don't put toot paper in bags .
The units are a US products and distributed by dealers..
price is no different to a decent quality cassette toilet and I presume you put chemicals in the cassette toilet ?? Aswel ~15 litres of water and I presume someone has to clean out / remove waste from the dump points around the country ?

That's what spare wheel rubbish bags are good for Nick. Ideal for warding off tail-gaters. The addition of a large sticker on the bag might be required though. Something along the lines of the strange "I fish, I vote" stickers. Maybe "I poo, I carry" ?

Seriously though you can double bag and store in something like one of those (multi-use plastic) kalamata olive barrels. Perfect for me as I don't eat them except on pizza but the wife might get a shock first time out.

I had great mental images of someone totally enjoying carrying the bags "FULL of goodies" out of the scrub in their backpack, as Frank said could be done, and knowing they were being mindful of the ecology. It would indeed make one very careful with the footwork. A high country experience not to be missed.

The terms biodegradable and compostable are sometimes used interchangeably. There appears to be no consistency in the use of the terms. Biodegradable simply means that the material will break down but this could be into small bits of plastic, the same microplastics that are polluting the biosphere. With biodegradable hydrocarbon based plastics you just get to this point more quickly. Compostable usually means that the material is made from cornstarch or similar organic material that will break down completely, not just into smaller bits. So all compostable materials are biodegradable but the converse is not true. But, if the desert environment is too dry for toilet paper to decompose quickly then neither will compostable bags that are buried.

If you think it is responsible, what will you do with the toilet paper that we are told you can not put in that bag?

This post has now gone full circle , as now we all know that people’s pet hate is toilet paper not disposed of correctly and now we are told you can not put toilet paper in these plastic bags.

On the burning of paper and fire danger.
We take it with us firstly in a paper bag and burn or dispose of when we can responsibly.
No need to start a fire, but “common sense “ is the thing .
But we have also burnt or picked up (with long kitchen tongs we carry for that purpose) a lot of other peoples as well!
We also pick up other rubbish, a few doing this cleans up the country a fair bit.

Review to date of my purchase of the cleanwaste portable toilet from ezygonow $155 toilet only plus powder & bags @ ~$ 1.oo p/poo . The setting up of the legs would be difficult maybe for someone without strong fingers like mentioned in the review but a lot easier and cleaner than I was expecting for my 1st time use,l didn't notice particularly any bad odors after using it for the first time . The issue of biodegradable bags would be easily overcome by purchasing biodegradable bags and adding the cleanwaste poo powder . This toilet is super light weight, strong and Compact saving half the space and 15 to 20 kilos of water . I must admit that at first the thought of pooping into a bag did not excite me at all but but in reality it's not too bad in my opinion
