Currently we are at
Winton having travelled from Charters Towers thru
Georgetown,
Croydon,
Normanton and Karumbah over past couple of weeks and found all roads OK with just a few areas being repaired, so all good. At
St George,
Injune,
Emerald and CTowers CP there were many others offering adverse advice 'don't waste your time because you can't get through' - we followed Qld Traffic and all has been good, CP's are filling slowly so all is good.

That's good to know. We're travelling the
Savannah Way the end of June. Hopefully the road through to
Borroloola is ok too.

The problem is too many people pass on ancient information. Washed out roads get fixed faster than the old info gets fixed and thrown out. Every state has their road conditions page, it is more up to date than the bush telegraph.

Totally agree Peter. Social Media is great for spreading misleading or misinformation by albeit
well meaning, but ill informed people.
I really do not understand why more people don’t “go to the source” like the various state and territory government departments. Each state and territory has its own “road closure” website, which is updated more regularly than social media.
Macca.

I also find many people have unreasonable expectations of rural roads, they expect them to be like the Qld & NSW M1 or Hume Highway.

And yet we have a goat track in North Queensland called the Bruce Highway...absolute joke.

Maaaaate ....... we have a truckload of important politicians to be looked after, before we think about things like roads. Just get your priorities right !!
Cheers

I remember sometime back we were at
Innamincka and asked at the pub and servo what the road to
Cordillo Downs was like both said it was extremely rough and would be better of going up the Arrabury road, A couple of guys working on the gas wells pulled us aside and said no problems with the
Cordillo Downs road they were right. The problem with the pub and servo, they hear from people who have never drive on a gravel road until they decide on their outback adventure.
