Well...brrrrrr....ahahhahaha....we're home......firstly before I forget...thanks for the birthday greetings I got...Pesty printed the pages out for me...and just to dispel further rumours about my "great age"....I turned 38....and Pesty is already suggesting a huge EO birthday bash in two years.....!!!

We had a wonderful time away and exprienced great things...a bit hard to pick one thing that was the best....probably for Al it was Uluru, as he said he'd worked solid for 18months fixing the van up to see it....for Tegan it appears to be Oodnadatta...[Jiarna...I think we'll be back there some time], Callum it was definitely the crocs...and for Maaaaaaaaaaaaaa, well....you can't beat a topend sunset, but...I think what did it most for me was the realisation that Albert Namatjira captured the colours of the West Mac just perfectly.....it was a fantastic trip and we can't wait to get out there again....

a few decisions have been made...we're selling the van and investing in a camper trailer so we can go to more "outback" places....Ruth...we'll be up to see you for sure.....

and I also want to say hi to the other EO users and members we met along the way....John and Heather R who we caught up with in Oodnadatta...it was fun and we had a great night, a chap from Portland [sorry can't remember your christian name - it's my "great age"] who we met in Kakadu, SteveM from SA and Hugh from WA who we met during sunset at Uluru..it was great to meet you and your families and thanks for the laughs....Jiarna [John] and family who we met in Coober Pedy it was great to meet you, we'll be back sometime....Pesty [and Glenda] and Roachie [and Annette] who we had dinner with in Clare...was great to meet you two...we had a great night...and a great time in Clare might see you in November....and finally Glenn and family who joined us for the final part of the trip...we had a blast.....as the boxes of red wine bought would indicate....ahahhahaa......

finally...Al has asked me to thank everyone who helped with advice and planning for this trip it was very much appreciated...so...thanks EO members and users....and we'll be seeking further advice on other stuff I'm sure......

cheers

Lyn

Welcome home. Glad to hear that you had a great trip. Like us just gotta get out and see some more of the place. Its never ending.
DIdn't realize your birthday was 2 days before mine. Sounds like you had a blast for yours. At my age it was a little more subdued :-)

Good on you for making it home, back to the cold. I guess you guys got home a little early, as I was expecting you thru here tomorrow, but thats OK, I know that once you get a whiff of home in your nostrils you go for it. I am sure Al would be champing at the bit to get out of the Toyota and back into a DECENT V8.

Cant wait to hear of the travels.

welcome home als and wombats and glenns
pleased to see you all had a graet trip will not rub in the fact that we leave in 3 weeks today but you covered a lot of great territory and i believe once you get the red dust in your shoes you keep going back .its a pity you feel you have to sell the van as sometimes both are handy depending on the trip you want to do .anyway welcome home.

Hi Steve,

I got the red dust up my nose....ahhahahaha...but yes, it's great....loved it...and we shall be doing this sort of thing [maybe not 6 weeks] but Al is talking 4 weeks a year at least to journey somewhere......the van is just a bit too cramped for that type of journey and won't let us get to where we want to go....but it served us well on this trip...though the last 2 nights we woosed out and stayed in a cabin....

Hi Lyn and welcome back, its nice to have another female posting, I agree re Albert Namijira, I always thought the colours were fake till I saw the real thing, its a great country we live in isnt it. It would have been fun meeting so many of the EO people, but there is really no place like home for most of us, even if its only to refresh and travel again.

Lyn and Al, along with Tegan and Callum.

Is great to see you home again safe and sound. I still remember seeing Callum without his cap in Oodnadatta. I wonder what Tegan enjoyed so much there. Must have been the green grass behind the Pink Roadhouse in the caravan park. Hahahah where you may ask?

I am sure the trip is something you will remember for a long tme - kids too. Be wide eyed each time you go through the piccies I have no doubt. Something we have loved in our tripping too is meeting people, not just the ones we knew.

We loved the night in Oodnadatta too circled up round the camp fire....

Hi John,

Callum without his cap is a rare sight, Tegan liked the colour of the roadhouse and the kids who were staying there who we also caught up with in Alice Springs on our way back....

It was great chatting with lots of people, even if it was just to admire their setup, or having a conversation over the radio with someone, one thing is for sure travellers love to chat...

cheers

Hi Lyn and Al,

Meeting you all during sunset at Uluru was a blast and a very unexpected highlight to what had already been a fantastic day. From reading your messages the rest of your trip seems to have gone well, certainly better than the Oodnadatta Tk.

We got home Saturday afternoon, with everyone tired but already wanting to do another trip - perhaps the Kimberlies next year. After seeing you at Uluru we progressed on to Kings Canyon, then Alice Springs (stayed another day (4) - so much to see and do), then down to Coober Pedy and home via the Nullabor.

The kids returned to school today and like yours have a lot of stories to tell their class mates, with pictures and artifacts collected along the way.

It was great to meet up with you, Al and the kids. And the other ExploreOz bods along the way.

Take care,
Hugh

Hi Hugh, too bad we couldn't spend more time chatting, maybe we might cross paths somewhere else in this great country...as we were discussing that night, it looks like we're going to invest in a TrakShak camper trailer....well at least that's the plan..hahahaha....

glad you made it home safe and sound...
