OK, the 14th, 15th of August is the weekend that seems to be the one, the place Bendethra Valley in Deau NP 320Ks south of Sydney. I'm either going early Sat morning and coming in via Moruya with my camper, i am hoping to get to Moruya around 8.30am if any of you would like to meet at Moruya and drive in with us or meet in Sydney at Blakehurst and drive down with us just let us know. UHF 18 will be used for communicating with each other.

There are 3 ways to get in.

1. The easy way suitalble for Campers and well set up Van's. This is from Moruya.( the shortest in time)

2.The next is via the Snowball Road, not all that hard but does have a tight hairpin bend that would make it difficult for trailers.(It comes in from the west & bit over an hour 1/2 from Braidwood)

3. The best of the 4WD tracks in, and the longest in time is the Merricumbeane? Fire Trail, it starts not far south of Araluen.( can take half a day with a group)

A couple of good meeting spots are Braidwood, Moruya and Captains Flat. Thanks Tony, aka Well55.

I will be ringing NPWS to keep you updated on track conditions and weather in the area.

So far between 8 and 12 parties will be going.

Oh make sure you rug up it's going to be cold.

Most important of all, drive safe and hope to you all there, waahooo can't wait.

Baz.

Baz,
I'll be there along with the better half.
Are you heading down the F3 or M5
If you are heading down the M5, I'll link up with you at Moorebank overpass, if you are going down F3 I will link up at Moruya.
I assume you will be leaving around 4.00-4.30 am???
No camper (yet!!!), just a small tent and very warm sleeping bags
Cheers
Shawn

I think it would be the same amount of time (for me anyway) as I live about 800m from M5, straight down to Picton Rd then cut across into the Gong.
See you there, will be great.
Cheers

Baz,
regular viewer of the site and would like to tag along for the trip. 100 series and a camper in tow. Could meet up at blakehurst and take it from there. Have promised ourselves on many occasions that we will go away with a group and this seems like the perfect opportunity..

Hi Baz

I've just confirmed with SWMBO that we are on for that weekend. We'll meet you in Moruya say in Campbell Street. Just go down the main drag and where everyone else turns left (I think there's a roundabout there) and turn right. Suggest that everyone has all they need before meeting 'coz there's nothing past Moruya.

Do you have coordinates for the area you want to camp in?

Looking forward to the weekend.

Mike & Ruth

Don't have detailed coordinates, have a map to get in there and was going to camp in the valley somewhere not having been in the valley before, do you have a spot in mind ? if anyone has a good spot in the valley for us all then let us know.

It was about 3 years ago that I was last there and I can't really picture the whole area very well. Must've been some dodgy port :-)

I'll ask a mate who was navigating last time. He never throws any sort of map away. I'll get back to you next week.

Paul,

I have yet to venture down that way but have maps of the area. We have a few options. The toughest/longest seeming to be Merricumbene fire trail. I will member msg you with our options.

Anyone else wish to meet up at Braidwood?

Bummer ... SWMBO advises we have prior commitments on the 15th. Oh well, maybe next time.

But for consolation she's allowing me to spend up big on a new suspension for the Jack. You could have knocked me over with a feather when she told me that.

Can't waste time, she may change her mind ..... choices, choices, choices!

Baz
good news , rest of family have finally decided whats going on for 14/15th ( old mans birthday on 13th) . Result-my son and I have a leave pass to attend get together so you can add 2 more to the list. Dont know if the young bloke will get his lux finished so might only be 1 vehicle.
Based in Canberra so will come in from the west late am sat as son works fri night.
Did the treks as per Colins notes in March and found them excellent.Camped at the old homstead last time Heaps of room there also love those long drops, beats digging holes and squatting any time.
Intend to exit via Araluen on sunday.
Will keep eyes open for Ozexplor stickers . we have white 80 series and perhaps maroon dual cab hilux.will just keep scanning the channels until we meet up with others.
regards
Howard
