This time of year (too hot in summer).
Redbank Gorge in the West Macdonnells out from Alice Springs.

In hills just outside ACT. Beautiful day today. Balmy 6 degrees at 0700. Max 9 today. Drizzle and windy overnight - yesss!!!! Middle of a drought - almost no rain this year. I go to Centre to see green! Usual winter day is minus 2 to 12 degrees. Clear sky. Little wind. Not a bad climate, but I can't think of any reason for visiting this region. In fact few do. We get a lot of poonces thrashing through here in their soft roaders going from Sydney to the snow.

Sounds like a nice place to live Bob, apart from the lack of rain. Quite, calm and cool sounds ideal to me.

All year round, if it gets too hot go up to the Snowy, if it's cold go north.

Hi Motherhen, best time of year to visit the Macedon Ranges would be autumn or spring, the great colours of the northern hemisphere trees and shrubs mixed with the colours of the native bush & clear crisp days - beautiful....

my fav spot [so far.. :)] Palm Valley - McDonnell Ranges....go now, too hot in the summer.

cheers

Lyn

Around Broken Hill it is best at about 25 - 30 C. That means March/April lots of sunshine, although I hear some rain on the roof at the moment. Can be pretty cool in winter and oh so hot in summer, there is something magical about swinging a shovel when it is 45C. I would also prefer to avoid the wind so that puts a damper on late winter early spring when it gets quite windy.

However if you do come to "the HIll" you will have a good time whenever it is.

Anytime is good here apart from the stinking hot summer days when the wind blows from the north. I wish they would keep it.

My most favourite spot is in my backyard having a bbq with family and friends, you're welcome too.

Second favourite is anywhere in the desert.
