I reckon that she would need more than a hug given that the Birdsville races are on this weekend. I am sure that she and Ian ( Jen's favorite man of the outback - except for Bob and Willie who are on a par with Ian ...I digress) will be completely knackered at the moment and unlikely to recover for the next few days.

They are fabulous people, Ruth and Ian, and we had such a great time up in Birdsville that we are itching to go back. Everyone should stay there just to enjoy their company - though during the Birdsville races they just might be a little stretched!

Peter, last time I posted testament to Ruth and Ians' capability in the Birdsville CP I got blasted for unpaid promotion. They are treasures I agree and run that place so well.

Like Andrew above we are itching to get back that way but preferably when there is time of day, that means not race time. I ws thinking of them this morning actually when the ABC ws on about the truckloads of booze the pub sell and provide to the race track.

I toast to you Ruth and Ian.

Peter what you say about the Innaminka pub, I wouldn't know, but I reckon I earned my beer at the Packsaddle Pub where I helped the lady get her barstool recovered - well one anyway. Just make sure you guys don't get a wrinkle across your seat. Perhaps you needed to see if you could get the wrinkle out of her seat Peter? LOL

Hi Peter,
We have just come back from Innamincka, was there camping on the town common 18th - 22nd August.
Started off from Sydney, Nyngan, Tibooburra, Cameron corner, Innamincka, Dig tree, Arkaroola, Parachilna, Quorn, Ouyen, Euchuca, Sydney.

5000KM all up
Went down to Arkaroola via the back road off the Strezlec and did the Ridge top tour. Then stayed at the Prairie and had the FMG.
Had a great time and yes I did get served by a very unhappy barmaid at the Innamincka hotel who had dark hair, quite scary!

cheers 3Landerblue

Hi 3lander

I'm going to the Northern Flinders next month

Could you give me some detail of the route you took from the Strez to Arkaroola please

Just the names of major points along the way would be fine.

Many thanks

George

Hi George,
We left Innamincka and went down the Strez.
About 40km north of Blanchwater and Mount Hopeless there is a turn off for Arkaroola.
It goes through some great country and over the Dog fence and numerous stations.
Sorry if I am abit vague here, but I am at work and do not have my maps withh me.
I have GPS settings at home

cheers 3LB

Thanks for the eply 3LB

I imagine you traveled via Moolawatana & North Mulga - to South Australians that's the 'highway' (-: - I thought you might have found a way through the Northern Flinders via Yudnamutana for example.

Cheers Geo
