Out of all the places i have been in the last couple of years i have found one thing which is very interesting....
I have a front air locker installed and another patrol which travels with me does not have one and it almost seems pointless for me to have one because everywhere i seem to get up and over i tend to have to winch my mate over or snatch him through anyway....
So the fact i spent up on an air locker is wearing out my winch more... Doesnt seem to figure...
And he wont buy a locker because he thinks they are wank...

I'd be getting him to pay for a service on the winch at the very least!!!!... and if lockers are wank... then he might have to walk to catch up with you.. :-))

Voxson that seems a bit odd that a patrol gets stuck that much.
Where does he get stuck could he need a bit of driver training not that I do that.
We have many types of trucks away with us and we dont seem to have to recover many.
This year 14 4wds away with me and 3 snatches on both trips and none had lockers just correct tyre pressures and good giudence.

Just a thought.

All the best
Eric

He does fail a little in that respect... I believe he has the ability to do better but he has the ol bull at a gate theory which lets him down a bit...

In respect to Voxon Eric . What he attempts on his trips out , you wouldnt take people on . I agree that most tracks can be tackles with good driving skills . But there are some of us that actually try everything and anything to push our cars to the limit . I am sure that you would tackle diffrent tracks if you were out with your mates , but when on a tag along , the main aim is to come back in one piece isnt it ?

I have met people who have been off roading for years and have never used ther snach strap. I on the other hand, I call it soft , If we havent had to winch/ snach / dig . But the most important thing here is , that we all have a ball doing our thing.

Thats fine Eric but on his list of problems going trough salt water up to his bonnet when there is a better way.
Over the past 5 years of doing tag alongs in the cape I have had about 80 to 100 4wds away with me and Peter who has been doing it for 13 years we dont seem to have many problems.

I have done some not many hard tracks but if I can find an easier way around it I will because when your a long way from home it costs heaps of money to play hard,if something breaks.
Friends and others will some get sick of towing you.

All the best
Eric

Lets do a little run down on past events..... Not that it is his fault,,, this is just how it is....

Cape York Trip 2003.... Made it all the way there and then in Laura on the way back smoke billowing outta pipe....Got to Cobar before leaving it there for RAA to bring home...Cracked head... Not his fault...

Coorong trip 2003..... Got to Salt Creek "tea tree crossing".... Water over crossing which looked deep so i bailed out and wanted to cross at 42mile crossing but he said it looks fine and crossed it.....Salt water over bonnet for about 20metres..... Failed electrical system.... His fault...

Trip to Border Track next week after..... Failed alternator due to last weeks salt water.... Kept swapping batt with him till we got home...His fault....

Robe to Beachport 2003.... No probs....

Simpson trip 2004..... Bad fuel which crippled his vehicle... even after 3 filters changed in the desert.... Couldnt even use low range at all..... Or go over minature dunes without a winch, because and load on engine would kill it.... Not his fault....

Last week Flinders.... For some reason his faul prob came back like the simpson but cleared soon after....

Hey Voxson,

That list reminds me of my old GQ. It had 385,000km on it most of which had been done hard. In the end it was amassinng a list like your mates, now I've got a GU.

In the end if it was my mate using up my winch and calling my locker a wank.... I'd leave him. At least once, just as a reminder of how good a mate I really was. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

Duncs.

Have to agree with Willem.

Find a new Mate who's not a Charlie Brown.
