where do you get it!
Just bought an enclosed work trailer and spend half my time backing up stange driveways. Way more difficult than the old open job.
Partner (shewhomustbeobeyed) invents a whole brand new set of wierd hand signals each and every day to guide me with!
How much would you expect to pay for a 12v rear view camera?
Is the monitor huge enough to take up the whole passenger
seat thus forcing miss bossy pants to maybe sit in the back? (behind the mesh)
Help

Just about to have a unit installed into my rig. Like you for trailer use - not so much
parking but so I can watch the trailer whilst driving(this is also illegal).
The cost was about $375.00 installed I think and the unit includes a small (approx 3inch) screen that sits high in top corner of windscreen on pass side.
I have reversed with these before and they are great for either coupling up or for not running over the kids!!!
The unit is installed by Polaris in
Sydney

The following info was "pinched" from someone on the Bushtracker Owners Group
forum. Looks like a bit of choice out there. My son told me the latest Nissans have them built in with a read-out screen on the dash (also built in GPS). I think he said Nissan.
Reversing Camera,
• Waeco have black & white cameras / monitors starting from $299 (5" monitor) and colour (7" monitors) from around $550. They are Mobitronic Brand. look up www.waeco.com.au.
• Astral Electronics, www.australelectronics.com.au have colour kits from $990.
• Jaycar have a wide range of cameras/monitors.
And does she of the wonderful hand signals still
cook you dinner after your closing comment???

I have 2 cameras in
mine . One reverse and one underneath to look at the
wheels in ruts . Runs throught a 4 way switch box to 2 dvd screens . the sky is the limit to these applications. You can also get a 7" sunvisor screen if you wish , or like at the front of
mine a motorised screen that comes out of the dash , this unit also plays CD's . If you need pic's let me know

I think it would be more useful to train wife to use 1 set of signals than rely on the camera. If it dies in the arse, your up the fence into a house..

evolvn,
Grab a copy of 'Caravan World' at the newsagent - there's a couple of mobs now advertising camera systems in there.
FWIW, my good lady and I have evolved a system where she drives and I direct, when
parking the caravan. It takes the 'driver' a little time to get used to NOT looking into the mirrors and making thier own corrections, but with a little practice we can now get the van into just about any spot without a public demonstration of joint 'reversing rage'! For the 'director' it's quite simple: standing at the driver's door and looking rearward, if you want the rear of the van/trailer to go left, say "left-hand down" and vice versa.

evolvn,
Seriously, I doubt that a rear mounted camera will actually help you in reversing, apart from showing you if anything is behind you in a blind spot.
Reversing with a trailer, or caravan for that matter, can be made much easier if you look at your left and right external rear vision mirrors.
If you see the trailer/caravan more in your right mirror, then turn the steering wheel right hand down (clockwise) to straighten out. Conversely, if more is shown in the left mirror turn the steering wheel left hand down. (anti-clockwise)
With a little bit of practise, you should soon be able to transverse the
Birdsville track BACKWARDS. He! He! He!

Maaaaaate!
Have you thought of wider mirrors
The beastie couldn't (shouldn't) be wider than a caravan, else it would be illegal.
I'll bet you are just justifying some gizmo's.
Good on ya'
