Without wheels... That sucks in Perth, it's so spread out.
Well, there is HEAP to do. Picnic at Kings Park is easy to get to. River cruise/wine tour if your into that.
Without wheels a trip to rottnest island has to be a goer as there are no cars there anyway, you ride bikes .. ha. hoo.. just a minute..... (just catching my breath) you ride bikes everywhere on rottnest, you can hire them when you get there. Ferry ride over is cheap and not too long. Plenty to do there.
You could even do a 4wd bus tour to the pinnicles. Takes a whole day, but you would probally love it.

Vince,

Rottnest Island is also a good day trip.

And there's the Swan Valley close by if you like the Vino.
Gotta say, even though I'm somewhat biased towards our South Aussie wines, they make a good drop in WA.

Ahhh! Gotta go back again.

Thanks Guys, sounds like a trip up the river for the wine then a day on Rottnest. One thing for sure, we will enjoy ourselves.

G'day,

yeah that's a couple of days drive north, near Exmouth. Whale sharks turn up around March/April I believe and hang around for 4-5 weeks. The reef itself is so close to the shore you just grab a mask and snorkel and jump in. Mind you, had a close encounter with a (much smaller) shark there. It was only a black tip reefer but something very unsettling when you are in the sharks' domain, only 5m away. Didn't need the spare jocks thankfully.

truckster, ningaloo is great, lived there for a few years and worked out of the NW taking people fishing, diving, whalesharks, manta rays etc. Great 4x4 drives along the coast, camp most places where u want. But it will change soon, at least on the coast. 1200 km from perth. WA has it all, except mega metropilis cities!!

Visit Hillarys boat harbour.
Do not try to contact our hosts as they do not answer the ph even when you leave messages.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.

If you go to rotto you'll probally be catching the ferry from hillarys. Good place to have either breaky or dinner before or after the day at rotto.

What about hiring a 4wd and doing the pipeline, maybe the darling scarp and the
wineries on the way home. Proberly cheaper than the wine cruise.
Or Lanclin dunes and wineries on way home. And there is the double decker bus
tour, freo jail. Funny you dont think of things when you live in a place.
Cheers Brian

Thanks Brian. We have been on the bus tour around freo, but I like the idea of hire of 4WD. I will do some work on the net tonight and look into this.

G"day Brian,

sad thing is, since I moved to Sydney 9 yrs ago, whenever I get back to Perth and eagerly troop off to one of my sentimental 'ol watering holes....I find it - just not there. There is a block of units (the Shents) or a carpark (The Floreat) or Retirment village (the Swanbourne) or...a 500 club (The Old Melbourne) it's just so sad, sorry, I'll go now. Breaks your heart, especially if it was a good live music venue.

sniff... sniff...

Jeremy.
