Hi,
we are long time campers (tent) and have just bought a swan outback. Can anyone suggest a location for a short trip (Under 4 Hours) from sydney. We have 2 kids 10 & 8 and are looking for a river spot for kids fishing and swiming. Any suggestions very much appreciated.

Thanks Michelle

michelle...
try either myall lakes national parks (nice freshwater fishing & swimmnig (and beach to in some areas) - just north of Newcastle.
or Yengo national park... - just north-west of Windsor

i'm sure the other forumites will help you out with this one... how long will your trip be for?!

Thanks
I'll look into both sugggestions. We're heading to Tumut for a week and looking at doing a couple of short (4-5 day) trips before school goes back

If you're going to Tumut make sure you get to the ruins at Adelong Falls. They are fascinating!

Spring,
What about Bendethera Valley , in from Moruya . Bit steep to get in with a camper but it's OK if it does not rain .Beautiful clean river but no fish ( I think )
What about the Shoalhaven River up over the mountain from Batemans Bay .
There is trout in that .
Or Eucumbeen Dam or Lake Jyndabine . Plenty of trout and swimming there .
Kangaroo Valley - there is bass in Tallowa Dam .
Have a great time ,
Willie .
