Hi Darrell
We have stayed at
Darlington Point Twice now on our travels and it is a gorgeous spot. We actually spent Christmas day last year there. We also travel with our 2 dogs and found
Darlington Point a good spot to stop for a couple of days for the staffies and the kids to get out and about after a long drive without being restricted by other campers.
Absolutely anywhere along the Murrumbidgee is a good spot to stop granted our
Tambo camper isnt as big as your trakmaster but we found many spots that we could put ourselves and still have access to the river. If you have mastered reversing your rig into sneaky spots you will find many more little beauties to sneak into as
well.
We havent camped in the
state forest itself as we found the access and
camping near town to be more than perfect.
Good Luck and have a great Christmas

Actually its only all the national parks we are not allowed to take domestic animals into.....
There are some state forests where pets are not allowed...but the majority allow pets under control...

The area we go into Darrell you go straight over the main bridge in
Darlington Point itself and at the very end of the bridge (heading towards
Griffith) you turn left and follow the dirt tracks around (except dont go into the saw mill =)) )
and you can take your pick of a spot.
We had nobody else near us last chrissy,
well we didnt see anyone anyway??
The town is pretty quiet as
well at night even considering it was christmas eve and then chrissy night.
Just one word of advise with your handicaped dog, I am not sure what the rain fall has been like down there but when we were there last (mid November 2004) the
water level was a bit lower than last chrissy and the sticks and branches were a bit more out of
water and of course on level where the dogs swim. Its not too shallow by any means theres still a fair bit of
water, just the level was lower is all.
Have a great time!!!
Tracey
