HI Leory
The larger club scene has trips to the
VIC High country going on all the time this is a very popular trip try your state 4wd assoc we had a club trip at xmas we have a second club trip in the newyear and thereis a trip in early 2005 so if you pick your club and talk about the high country you will find other like people who are willing to go BUT the trip must be planned it must be agreed on by like people what you want to do IE Eating out camping out etc spares Tyres fuel stops where all this should be Thrashed out be fore you start on the trip if you dont the persons expectasion are not the same the route the
camp stops the sight seeing and the
pic taking is also of concern and I CAN SAY that you will have people leave the convoy

If its the Vic High - you are talking about (not nsw side) Overlander had a good trip in it a few manths ago, I think Nov or Dec edition (search their site should come up) I am looking at doing it next year as a change to my last few trips.
From Thredbo you will cross at Tom Groggins and then go from there.
Also have a look at the Boilybilly "4WD Tracks of the High Country by Craig Lewis and Cathy Savage, you will find heaps of trek notes covering pretty much all of it (I think it is probably for sale through this site.

Did the the Vic Alps Xmas/New Year. The Hema High Country map and the Boiling Billy publication will provide plenty of ideas.

Hi Brian
We'll be there (
Vic high country) for
Easter. We don't do much driving I must admit! We stay at the Blue Duck Inn at Anglers Rest (fantastic place with great food), go to the
Omeo Rodeo on Saturday and the cattlemen v. professional polo players polo match (fundraiser with lots of cheating and good fun) at Cobungra Station near
Dinner Plain on Sunday. Bit of time to spare for fishing in the river too. Its a great country weekend. If we are really lucky the cattlemen gather at the Blue Duck before they go up to muster the cattle and bring them off the high plain for the winter.
Look our for the troopy with EO stickers!
Have a great time
Anni

It's taken me 20 years & over 200 trips to see 3/4 of the Victorian High Country tracks so with 4 days ex thredbo I'd suggest you wont get far. I'd start at
Tom Groggin, Mt Pinnabar, then head south east to the
Snowy river. Plenty to see & do for a few days in those areas.
Cheers Craig.............

Make sure you take sufficient warm clothing and your vehicle is filled with proper anti-freeze coolant. I have been in snow in late March at
Kiandra. Remember it is Alpine country and even in summer can be in the low tens.

Brian - just be aware that the NPWS and DSE close many tracks this year on MAY 1st !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We (
Sydney Jeep Club) are heading up to Davies Plain from
Tom Groggin (cross the Murray) and are heading south from there to SugganBuggan and then back up through Willis and back to
Jindabyne. We are doing it from the 6th of April through to the 10th to make sure we don't get the tracks closed on us.
At
Easter time, you should be still OK though - just don't delay the trip after that.
Have a look at the
Davies Plain track on your maps, or the BB publication mentioned. It's one of my favourite tracks in this country. Leave a good three to four days for it.... and don't rush!

hi brian
The club scene is not that bad the Tag a long people will tel you the club scene is dead but it is not
for the cost of the club
membership of your choice some $150 you get a lot for your money you get
driver training if you jion a large club there is a trip every weekend there is trips all over Australia the clubs know where to go we have been there before
i have seen the cost of the tag along to be $100.00 a day
the clubs do not charge this amount a years also if you join a vehicle brand name the history of the of problems with the brand is accessed
it is worth joining a club

Snailbate,
Don't be sorry, you only get what you pay for, and I don't come cheap.
If I was still in the 4WD club I would have not done any of the trips that I am doing now.
No club that I know of is out there 50 weeks a year, and doing trips all over
Australia not just a trip in the bush.
