Hello all, just to clarify some issues with people who are coming along or hope to come along to the Murray Sunset Gathering.

Firstly, the Shearers Quarters has kitchen facilities with stove, fridge etc, which are powered by gas, the kitchen has NO utensils so if you plan to use it you will have to bring your own. The Shearers quarters also has A shower, this shower uses tank water so a sensible approach to the use of the shower would be greatly appreciated, there is also a flush toilet at the shearers quarters.

As we have booked the quarters for the use of the group please feel free to use these facilities if you want to/need to, though we will be asking for a small donation to help cover the cost of the booking.

The camp ground has pit toilets, there is NO water there, you need to BYO all water, there are fire pits there, the Parks Vic ranger I spoke to on Monday does not want any new pits dug, the pits that are there have swing away bbq plates. Fires are allowed provided it is not a TFB day. Wood for fires is also BYO.

I think we will be visited by a Ranger at some stage during the weekend so lets make sure we adhere to their reccommendations. They are aware that many of us will be self sufficient [ie own shower facilities etc].

And finally, if anyone is arriving on Thurs night [Baz I think I read that you were leaving Thurs morning] the shearers quarters won't be open til I get there sometime on Friday as I'll have the key, though I think you might be able to access the toilet as it's an outside one.

If anyone would like further information or has further questions if you could either email me or call my mobile [both address and number can be found by clicking on my rig pic] I'll try to help, if I can't I'll contact my contacts at Parks Vic. I am also expecting some literature and further information to be sent to me within the next week.

looking forward to catching up with friends and meeting some new people

cheers

Lyn

It is much appreciated.

I'm coming in from Pinnaroo via the bore track and it's about 54kms. Looking at my map Loxton is about 60kms, Paruna 53kms has general store and fuel, hope this helps.

Ray, there is a track marked on my map, and elsewhere, called the Millewa South Bore track. It runs off the border track and parallel with it, past the rock holes and the Millewa S bore and ends adjacent to the shearers qtrs. If I'm not there by dark on friday come looking for me will you.

Yep, I've found it Pat. Funny thing I've got that track in the ozi .plt file I did for my Saturday route through the park from Pink Lakes to the meeting site so if you get stuck I'll be through on Saturday lol...nah you'll be right

Last time I was in the park I had to haul out a couple of photographers in a Lancer who got a bit adventurous up a sand track and had camped the night alongside the track...silly buggers...first thing I did was get my camera out....if looks could kill....

Leaving thursday morning around 8.00 to 9.00am maybe earlier if anyone wants, i thought a bit of sightseeing on the way down would be a good idea. We are going via Wagga.
