Hi

Is it doeable from Sydney on a weekend, assuming early start Saturday, late finish Sunday? Or is it pushing it too much.

Thanks in advance.

Which way do you think would be better ?

I have been in from the West side (from Canberra) , and been out via Moruya. Never been in via Arulyen ?

Moruya would probably be the easiest way in , but , the extra distance ??

The track in from the north is ok with clearence and good tyres, it takes a lot longer as it can be slow going at times. A good drive if you have the time.

Hey Barry it takes 3 hrs from Sydney to Moruya then depending on where you are going in Deau NP, if Bendethra about 30 to 45 min into the park, it is worth it though.

If you are talking about Bendetherra it is certainly doable , but not too relaxing .
It would be tough if you came in or out from the west because it takes twice as long . From Moruya it is about an hour to the camp site .

Baz,

Look in Trip Planning under Bendethera Valley.

If it gets wet go out via Moruya and the camper trailer wll have to stay at home.

Yeah Barry, Wayne is right not campertrailer friendly when wet because of how steep it is can be a bit hit and miss sometimes.

Thats Bendethra only, other parts of the park are OK, NPWS normally close the road into Bendethra after rain.

Th Pathfinder Club were down there in January and it isn't too bad a trip if you are coming in via Moruya.

As for taking trailers - not a problem wet or dry via the Moruya route - that is if you have a decent set of tyres on. 3 of us left after 2 days of rain, all towing trailers and got out fine - 1 of the trailers was 1,200kgs, being pulled by a Pathy with Cooper St's. The Pathy towing with HT tyres on slipped a bit, but after lowering pressures got out no problem. All too easy! I reckon if you are towing a trailer it is about 1 hour 20 minutes to the campsite. Those in the Pathy club who left Sydney early arrived about 3.00pm at the campsite.

Towed my trak shak out via Moruya after rain night before and a bit in the morning, wasn't too wet, ground seemed to soak up most of it. NP pajero with Cooper ST's.
