Has anyone used a transporting company to freight their camper/caravan from Brisbane or Sydney to Perth?

I have got lots of quotes for the Patrol from Brisbane to Perth, with the best being from Autotrans and TNT ($1150 & $1195 respectively), however there arent many that transport campers. The only quote I got for the camper was $3750 (3x the price of the 4WD) from Autotrans.

Is it possible to hire a shipping container and freight it by rail? This would have to be cheaper?!

Greetings

If you wish to transport the combination vehicle and camper from one location to another an option is to have the combination driven by a third party. Try this company Enright Vehicle Relocators 0418 114 759. There are others that do this also. Check for insurance and age/experience of drivers ie they need to drive it like they own it. Note that I work for the above company and I promise to drive it like I own it :-)

Regards

Paul

I thought I should post this follow up incase anyone was investigating this option in the future.

I contacted a freight company, and the cost of a 20' container to hire for 3-4weeks and to transport to Perth from Sydney via rail is $2,800.

So... it looks like we will be driving to and from Perth, and now we just have to deceide which route we wish to take!!!

I know Watson's Express Transport are delivering one from Perth to Sydney.

They're WA based, but their Sydney number is (02) 9645 2508.
