Hi
Would anyone in Vic like to offer (or even join in ?) some weekend trip suggestions for this weekend. Was looking at maybe Murrindindi or that area. Somewhere about 3-4 hours from Melbourne with moderate 4WDing. Our vehicle (Terrano auto diesel) is not set up for anything too hard core but don't mind getting it dirty or sratched for the sake of some fun.
Also can anyone tell me where I can get my hands on some route maps of this area or any other areas you suggest.

Look forward to hearing from you all !

Cheers,
-Marc

Hi Marc
Murrindindi is a nice area, plenty of tracks of varying intensity. Plenty of challenges off Spraggs road in Toolangi, you can get there(Toolangi) from Murrindindi via Marginal Road. Melbourne map centre has plenty of Hema maps covering the area, you can order on line also... A few from here also frequent Gembrook State Forrest, I'm sure they will offer some info...

I don't have any maps with me, how you get there depends on where you are coming from.

Yep I think I actually confused myself there...

If you make the Toolangi general store a starting point, it's on a "T" intersection(Kinglake Rd & a smaller one, actually about .5km south of the township), you can orientate your map from there. Spraggs road is a good starting point, I can't for the life of me remember the other track names. I think Vic Range track was doable in an unmodified unit, big mud holes from memory, all of which had visible bypass tracks. Your best bet would be to grab a map and explore, Spraggs is IMO the best start point and you can eventually link to Marginal road and head for Murrindindi if you like... Pop out on the Melba Hwy and grab some dinner at The Glenburn Hotel, they put on quite a good meal. The first couple of wicked looking tracks you come to on Spraggs(they cross Spraggs), don't even bother, nothing short of massive lift, tyres and lockers will se you clear these ones.

Sounds good. I have been up around Woods Point a fair bit lately. Great place to stay at the pub when you want a quick overnight trip and couldn't be arsed camping. Go in via Marysville and you are there in a few hours from Melbourne.
