We want to travel from Hungerford west, following the rabbit fence.
The Hemma 'Great Desert Maps' show a road from Hungerford almost to the Hamilton Gate, and the purple colour indicates the map-makers travelled this route with the GPS acurately recording the trip.

Has anyone been on this track?
We intend following it up to the Mirintu bore,Bulloo Downs then across to Camerons Corner.
Also, does anyone have contacts or phone numbers for Bulloo Downs?
Leaving Monday - suggestions/comments appreciated.
Thanks.................

I think you will find that you are not permitted to travel along the track next to the fence as it has fence maintenance crews working along there. There have been accidents in the past.

There was a thread on here a month or so about it. Check the archives.

Cheers,

I travelled the Dog fence (Rabbit fence upgraded to Dog Fence) from Toona Gate near Tibooburra to Hungerford - but that was back in 1994. Plenty of punctures due to old fencing materials and mulga stakes hidden just under the sand dunes. The best contact is the National Parks Office in Tibooburra as they know all the contacts and get asked this question quite a lot. Back then access was no, due to OH&S issues and the possibility of having a head on in the dunes with one of the dog fence boundary riders. Anyway call the NPWS and they will let you know where access is permitted and also provide contact details for any private property out that way. Anything within 300Km of Tibooburra is LOCAL Territory.
Have fun & beware of barbed wire that can get tangled around the axles and cut brake lines.
