Met a bloke at Weipa campground last September who had one fitted to his 100 series. He was rapt in it, but did say that there had been a few serious chops which had to be done to various bits under his bonnet in order to get it all fitted properly....can't recall the exact details, but part of involved taking an angle grinder to the side of the block!!
He'd coupled it to a 20 litre air tank near the tow bar and had a great set-up
Cheers

After rigging up an aircon compressor in his FJ60, my mate Bazz was interested in putting one in his 80 series but couldn't figure out where. He spoke to the guy from endless air about but was given no information at all and was told he would recieve photo's and instructions when he buys the kit.

Needless to say he went out and purchesed the Max Air, keeps it in a bag in the back and is very happy.

I gather he wouldnt as he has worked out how to fit them...

I believe the procedure to get the comp to work as an air compressor is to remove the oil if it has any and pack the the plate etc with grease....now for the intellectual property bit.....investigate, design and manufacture a mounting solution to suit comp and engine that compressor is to be installed on.....

If you had done all the hard work ie investigate, design and manufacture a mounting solution etc, would you tell you how to fit it ?

Must have been your 'inter personal' skills.

He is fine to deal with and I've been to his house on a couple of occassions re this subject matter and ben offered a coffee etc etc .

Freely divulges info, and most anything else you want to know about endless airs.

Its a fascinating subject when you start to research it

Matter of fact I have one in my Troopy.

Why do I have one - well I worked the last OBC as a passage controller with a group of competitors.

Managed to trash a tyre and when the new one turned up one of the comp team members(2) removed trashed tyre, re fitted and aired up the new one in 1 & 1/2 minutes.

I kid you not. The whole thing done in 1 & 1/2 minutes.

The re-seating of the new one and air up took just under 30 seconds using their version of an endless air.

Why did I use an endless air?

Try and figure out how you are going to get one into a 1HZ Troopy and you will come to the same conclusion I did - it is 1000 times easier to buy a readymade R&D kit that doesn't by the way require the 'Michael Angelo' touch with an angle grinder.

I now use the ARB Comp for the Diff lockers only and carry a Bluetongue IV as a spare. Had to use the BT IV on the OBC when the ARB Compressor switch disintergrated in the middle of the night.

Morning Wayne

Here are the Endless Air contact details

Endless Air
John Bach
Kareela Engineering
2 Tamar Court, Mentone VIC 3194
PH: 03 9584 4785
MOBILE: 0418 175 656
FAX: 03 9584 5837

However, as you to have a Troopy, I would suggest you contact me via contact details in my profile, because if you think other things are 'tight in life', nothing is as tight as fitting an endless air into a Troopy.

Having said that, there are two options with the endless air kit being the cheapest and easiest.

Regards

Hi Lucy
As nudenut pointed out why would you devulge the info after your hard work I was only trying to find out how they were fitted and how difficult they are to fit & see one fitted what is easy for one person to fit doesn't mean the next can do it as easy I just wanted to see what I was getting before I handed over my $1000
If you have one in your troopy why are you using two 12 volt compressors have you sold the troopy ???
I appreciate your reply nice to know they are as good as claimed
Cheers

Barry W

(1) Mr Endless air whose details I have posted for Wayne on this thread will tell you and show you anything you want.

(2) I live in the Waverley/Monash area of Melbourne and have no objections to you coming to have a squizz at my Endless Air setup. (can contact me on email addy in profile etc)

(3) Why do I have two other compressors - well its like this, when I first started to fit the Troopy out in 2000 I wanted to utilise an endless air, however the kit at time was for an overhead mount above the aircon Compressor which (a) was virtually mission impossiible to fit and (b) if you did manage to get it strapped on, there was only the proverbial Bee's P E N I S clearance all round including the bonnet.

So I purchased an ARB with tank for ARB airlockers which I intended to put in later. This I did both back and front.

I had a minor conniption at Dalhousie in Apr/May 2yrs ago with the ARB Compressor which I managed to fix prior to crossing the SD West to East. However if I couldn't have, then there were no lockers which I had to use a number of times while crossing the Simpson which was powder dry and difficult after the summer heat.

So I made the decision then and there that I would carry an emergency spare, which I used as stated above on this years OBC.

(4) Whilst at the OBC I saw a number of these devices in use, both homemade jobs and the endless air.

I also saw some fibre glass bonnets that competitors had had made to fit over head extra altinators and super chargers under. Hello, here was the solution to my endless air fitting problem.

Came back to Melbourne and found a Fibre glass shop that made Troopy bonnets with a raised mid section and rang Endless Air.

(5) Guess what? Nup! not in a million years. Endless Air have discontinued the O/Head mount and R & D'd a below Altinator mount.

Long story cut short, I now have one, The ARB is now dedicated to the Lockers only, but can be used if necessary for tyres and I still have the Bluetongue IV.

Now that you have my life story on compressors, what is your next move.

Barry,

I have one in my 1999 GU Patrol 6TD.

Fillting was a breeze, no "cut & paste" required. It even gave me a bit more of a sump guard. Very robust mounting and it all just bolted on without any mods required. Took about 3 hours. The hardest bit was putting the belt on.

I recommend it to anyone and Endless gave me heaps of info as I asked for it. I did have to wait for 2 months until a kit was developed as the 6TD was so new (back then).

I run the compressor whenever the engine is running. I ran a John Deere dealership and used to use it to inflate all sorts of tractor tyrers (4 WD Monthly did'nt give inflation times for these in their a/c comparos') and have never had a problem. I keep a 1/2" air line in the back all of the time as well as a tyre plug repair kit. I have lost count of the number of times I have used it for someone else (Oh - is that where the spare should be kept).

I have even fitted an antisocial driver alert tool (ie - train air horn) and it works a treat (I have a 5l reserve air tank fitted). You have to be very careful where you use it though (it is on a separate switch to the normal horns).

Have you asked hem for the fitting instruction or even get him to read it to you so that you can decide if it is a big job. My mate has a 100 and it does look a little difficult. My instruction had about 6 or 8 steps.

I did take a detailed measurement of the brackets I received so that I could make another if ever required.

Regards,

Chris.

Michael,

Yes, it is an ST with air con.

It mounts on the RHS under the fuel pump.

See below note to Barry. I'll send you a pic for reference.

Barry, thread here that might be able to assist.

http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/PHP_Modules/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=49149&highlight=sanden+compressor

i'm looking at doing this on a HZJ 105. Got the compressor and tank and all the switches, just need the insperation...
I Dont imagine it will be that hard. Endless used to make a bracket that put the unit in the same place as shown here, but have now changed iot to lower down in the engine bay.
