Well, as much as I hate to post incorrect information on this forum, (snigger), I just have to share with you guys something that may (or may not) be happening for some of us folks.

For those of us fortunate enough to have the cleverness, and true foresight to own an Apple iPod, there is some very good news coming through the various rumour mills at the moment. The rumour mills are predominately Apple based geek forums, with some printed press thrown in for good measure as well, although I think the press do sometimes feed off the forums to a degree.

It is looking as though Australia may well be at long last getting iTunes. iTunes is an online Music, Video & Audio Book store, which caters for us iPod owners, and has swept the western world by storm.

There have been a number of supposedly aborted launches in the last 12 months, this is probably due to much of it being rumour, but one ill fated launch, slated for May, was held up because of a record label not signing on in time, Sony BMG.

Now, what makes this rumour a little different, is that we actually have two head honcho’s coming over from Apple USA to Sydney for a launch on the 25th, at 9:00 am. These two dudes represent the iPod, and iTunes... I’m sure as hell betting they aren’t flying out here to tell us about the newly released video iPods, and how we CAN’T buy content for them, oh no, my moneys on the iTunes Music Store being announced for Australia, ITMSAU

It is being bandied around, that the online store will be up and running on, or by the 31st. of October.

Now, let me reiterate....

This is ALL here-say, and rumour, so let’s just hope that the rumour will turn into a trumor...

I am fully aware of the other MP3 download sites here in Australia & overseas, but iTunes is the Holy Grail of these, as well as being the only one that fully supports the Mac platform seamlessly.

Just when I thought I has my Visa Card all under control, this happens......

Cheers

Wolfie

Oh, and for those of you that think this may be a little off topic (non iPod owners!), have a look at the keywords that EO tagged...

...Topic Search: Camping Gear Business Search Keyword: Tent

... still scratching my head... tent?

Whoa!!!

Using that analogy, my card would be in about the same shape as some of my really old jocks in the back of my drawer!!

You know, the ones we hang onto, incase the others don,t get washed and dried in time...all the elastic has gone, and they always seem to manage to fall down one leg when you walk.

Cheers

Wicked, been waiting for the I Music store to become available in Australia, Flogging MP3 off on the Net is all well and good but finding some songs takes time, the Music store will be handy as long as it is not too $$ to download music off it.

There is also the added bonus of it not being illegal also.

This is such an honour, for me to play the role of a missionary, and explain to the poor hapless people about what has been happening in their world.

I will not go into details, I will just generalise.

If you go away camping, and your kids, or missus is not happy, just whip out the iPod, it has magical healing properties, that is all you need to know. If it doesn't shut 'em up, YOU use it.... simple.

Trust me, it's white mans magic....

OK....I admit it! I own an iPod.

Have iTunes loaded on the Intel based PC running Windows XP and it also works "seamlessly"

Must admit the music quality is fantastic.
I just loaded 3 or 4 CD's down into iTunes, plugged the iPod Shuffle in and wallah!
Because my favourite Radio Station is no more (5AD) i use the iPod with an FM Transmitter playing the music I want to hear on my Car stereo system.

I've got to admit Mr. Wolf, some of the Apple technology does appeal to me.

Mr Wolf... What makes the ipod better than other units? Sincere question, not taking the pi$$... Have listened to tunes on an ipod, same tunes on a similar but $300 cheaper unit and I can't tell the difference. Essentially, you dump a gazillion songs onto either one and presto, you have a gazillion songs to listen to where ever you are.

I agree Blue. I just don't get the appeal of an ipod.

In fact why use an MP3 player at all. My iPaq can play mp3s just like an ipod. It also runs my navigation software (Destinator and Oziexplorer), runs a browser to surf the web, runs excel for my fuel log, word , calendar, email, plays videos and games..... there's just so much software available for a Pocket PC now, why would anyone want an ipod that can only play music?

Crikey, my Nokia 6230 mobile phone takes SD cards, has a radio, a camera, plays mp3s and videos and a whole lot more. An ipod can't even match a mobile phone.

I've played around with friend's ipods and I just don't get what people see in them.

Cheers Frank.

Third time lucky...?
I reckon it'll be another flop like the last 2 launches of it they advertised here and didnt follow through with. I guess that makes them "spontaneous and new" though, so it may be a marketing ploy.
