Hi all, this year's trip has been planned, we're headed to the Flinders Ranges, going up via Murray Bridge, Port Augusta, Coober Pedy and the Painted Desert, Alegaebuckina Waterhole, Coward Springs, Farina Homestead, Arkaroola, Warraweena Station, Rawnsley Park Station, Quorn, Burra, Mildura and home, we're leaving July 29 and will be back at the end of August if anyone is planning on being in the same areas during that time let us know and we might be able to meet up.

5 months and counting .....

cheers

Lyn

You have obviously put some serious thought into these destinations, they are ALL good spots to visit.

I have spent a lot of time in Burra, and I can tell you, allow 3 easy days to see some of the history of the place. The caravan park is excellent, or if you wish, there are two bush camping areas a few kilometres outside of town, but I think the caravan park is just fine...

Depending upon your route from MB to PA, may I suggest taking the route which passes through Clare, Yacka, Georgetown, Gladstone, Laura, Stone Hut, Wirrabara, Murraytown, Melrose and Wilmington? All stop worthy places.

Cheers

Hi Wolfie

Thanks for your input, Burra unfortunately is just an overnighter this time, but I know I'll be back there, love that area, have done the PA route through Clare to Wilmington before, and will probably go that way again it is such a lovely part SA.

cheers

Lyn

A couple of other spots to consider in the Flinders:

Warren Gorge near Quorn is a great free camp spot with water. The campsites in Aroona Valley are great and there is usually water at the spring near the old homestead. We stayed at http://www.angorichinastation.com/index.html
last year for three nights. Did their self drive trip and will definately go back. Nice folk and great camp spot.

Cheers
