Does anybody know what the roads to
Birdsville are like right now? Somebody told me there might be floods out there .
Thanks
Reiner

Hello MrBitchi - you're right. NO RAIN OUT HERE! Now, Reiner, which way are you coming into
Birdsville? This is what I know.
Windorah to
Betoota - 110 klms bitumen then good dirt.
Betoota to
Birdsville (travelled it at the weekend) - 170 klms of dirt which has large wheel ruts from a large cattle truck right down the guts of the road. At the Durrie Station turnoff there is a very dangerous bog hole (dry, but deeply rutted on a corner). Apart from that it's not too bad.
Yes there is water in the Diamantina River and
Cooper Creek (
Windorah) but no, won't be enough to cause floods out here.
Cordillo Downs Road - in very good condition and due to a good shower of rain recently, looking green around Cordillo
homestead area.
Road to Big Red - quite ordinary.
Birdsville Track - Queensland section (again cut by truck after shower of rain) but graded for the rest.
Hope this helps.
Ruth

Thank you Ruth, we would be coming from Windorah/
Betoota. Our plan is to leave
Brisbane tomorrow night.
On the way
home I would like to go north to Cluny and turn right along the Diamantina Development Road back to
Windorah depending on time. We have to be back here Monday.
See you
Easter :-)
cheers
Reiner
