Just wondering if anyone can recommend a 4WD Clubi n Sydney that is worth the time investigating! I have looked at most of the clubs home pages and there are so many to choose from!
I am an avid tourer/camper but do love a challenge now and then, but Im not interested in the old bush bashing! My car is set up for tripping not really extreame 4x4! Any suggestions before visiting them would be great!
Matt.

Agree with Truckster. I have been a member of the Nissan Patrol Club for about 2 years and have been on some fantastic trips with fantastic people. You wouold go a long way to find a better bunch of people to go away with.

Hi Matt:

Plenty of terrific clubs around. I am a member of the Toyota Landcruisers Car Club, another group of great people. You may like to check out their website (hope it is OK to do this) at www.tlcc.com.au where you can find details on membership, their club land, driver training etc. They meet on the first Monday evening of each month, and visitors are always made welcome. I am just a member, not on a committee or anything.

one problems with the TLCC its TOO big.

When I was in sydney 3 yrs ago, I was told 3500 members?... How do you ever get on a trip with them, if theres a max of 6 per trip?? They would need to run more trips per weekend than drugs taken by Shane Warne....

thats why I didnt join... My ex's dad was a trip leader with them, hes the one telling me about them, went to a meeting at Chullora there, and talk about 100's of cars.... Dont get there late!

Lookin at the site it says
Many of our near on 1000 members do not drive Toyota vehicles.

So I thought 3500 was a bit much....

I think the membership is around 1000 .. (vague recollections from last meeting I attended In Nov).

They have addressed the problem of getting on trips with a dedicated website available (to members) for trips that come up on short notice. Seems to be working well because most of the trips go out full.

And yes, getting there early does help .. although I have arrived late and always managed to get a spot (around the back of the hall), which I prefer for a "quick escape".

But, there are plenty of good clubs around, lots of choices, and most have good people, lots of help and advice for new guys like me, and a lot of social activities.

Matt,

The great thing about the TLCC is that there are enough different things going on that you can do what suits you - from easy paced club trips to vehicle recoveries for Clean Up Australia to extreme team events.

The club also has a couple of properties for you to rest and play.

cheers,

Stuart

Thanks for the responses!!!
Im in the Sutherland Shire but it doesnt really matter where in Sydney the club is based, for the club nights it will be worth the drive!
Im driving an Isuzu MU and usually tow a camper trailer on the large trips, but again the Make/Model of the club usually doesnt matter either!
Thanks again!
Matt.

Lived in the shire myself for 33yrs, SO glad to be in Victoria now...

We can afford a house now! Maybe even a second by the end of the year!

The drive to either the TLCC at Chullora (thru Sutho, Menai, alfords pt bridge, stacey st padstow, hume hwy, your there) or Five Dock both bite, but Queens Rd 5 Dock is a longer drive!
