Hi DMech,

Unless you drive a Suzuki you will damage paint work on any conventional 4WD and more so on a F Truck. Corrugations are unavoidable. Forget the bills and enjoy a unique track.

Demech,
You can buy products that you apply to the paintwork of your vehicle and it will prevent scratching of the paintwork. I have used one called Autoskin and it did the jobvery well. (We travelled the AnneBeadell lst year and no scratches from the side massaging) It will come off relitively easily afterwards but much harder to remove from window rubbers etc. Cost was about $50 for a 1 litre bottle and it covered the cruiser easily.

It's like a 2 lane highway to Emu and even after that only the wider vehicles will get scratched. I am interested in how you propose to travel south from Emu to Marilinga...unless you are proposing a runner!!

I can recollect some sections in Mabel Creek Station before the dog fence where there were some fairly narrow parts that did touch the sides of my vehicle.

It is generally quite open then until Emu.

As has been said before, permits to go south from Emu will be probably unobtainable.

Geoff.

To demech

Be advised that permits are needed from the Woomera Protected Area authorities and the Maralinga Tjarutja Aboriginal community if you travel on the Anne Beadell highway. If you are thinking of going south from Emu, Dont. The Maralinga Tjarutja community rarely give permits to go south of Emu and there are locked gates at the northern and southern boundaries of Maralinga and a resident manager at Maralinga. The Commonwealth Govt has rehabilitated the previously radioactively contaminated Maralinga site and is preparing to pass the land back to Maralinga Tjarutja ownership. The C'wth is managing the site consistent with Maralinga Tjarutja community practices and accordingly the C'wth does not give permits to enter Maralinga, unless for scientific research or exceptional circumstances.
