Hi all,
I am putting together a trip across Madigans Line next year and just wanted to know if anyone had a saved plot for Oziexplorer of their trip. I have traced it on the maps i have and worked out a tad over 700klm's from Mt Dare to
Birdsville but i understand there would probably be some detours etc, so a plot would be handy.
Anyone willing to share the plot, email to blazesport@tsn.cc
Cheers Glenn
(maybe I can twist Mr and Mrs Lexics arms to come for a drive)

Hi Blaze,
Another important bit of information that very few people do not do is contact the owners of
Andado Station, Robbie and Jo Bloomfield for permission to travel their property, for Madigan's camps 1 and 2. Make sure that you do this, and make sure that you stick to their station tracks. In the past they have spent time following tracks of vehicles that they think could be in trouble, only to find that they are lazing new tracks.
Do the right thing and show that the people that travel on their lands are responsable people.
Enjoy your trip.
Stephen

Hi Stephen,
I Think it was your tracks I followed earlier this year below
the Twins. Dave and I at Mt Dare spoke with Robbie and Jo Bloomfield on Monday night when they were over for tea. For some time I have been investigating/creating a bypass around the Madigan camps in indigenous land areas. People undertaking the Madigan do not have permission of CLC to go to camps 3,4 and 5, and as you say most also do not have permission of
Andado Station.
We have come to an agreement for next season that people wanting to use access the Madigan contact Mt Dare and a register of names and vehicle registrations will be maintained and a map of coordinates supplied for the indigenous land bypass. (info@mtdare.com.au)
The dune system beween south of
the Twins to the Colson is magic, difficult and is a fantastic alternative.
More updates to follow
Cheers from

Hi Ian,
Depending on what time of the year you were out there, they may have been our tracks. We were through there in early May. I had made many phone calls to Jo before the trip and she is a magic lady. We were able to catch up with Robbie and Jo on the Old
Andado Track.
Like Jo said, they did not mind people travelling their land, proving that they had permission and did the right thing. This year we did the Simpson Geo Expedition, doing Madigan;s Camps 1 and 2, then heading South to bypass the indigenous land. As you know, very rocky in sections and it was hard on tyres in sections, those lovely little Mulga stakes just love the side walls of tyres.
It will be great to get that register in place. How far did you follow our tracks for. When we were back in crown land, we then headed south east to a remote confluence of S25º E136º, then making our way out to the Colson track and then on to
Geosurveys Hill.
Keep up your great work and sites like this can spread the word about making sure that people register first, do do the right thing and to show the world that yes, 4 wheel drivers are resposanle people and do want to do the right thing by land holders etc.

Hi Stephen,
We followed you to the swale whre you headed south and then until you were travelling across the top of a dune through the spinnifex moguls about 6-8 k south.
We then returned to the swale and headed north before cutting through to the Colson. We saw tracks earlier from Phil's group and found them again where they emerged on the Colson track.
Magic country.
When speaking with Robbie and Jo, they are cattle people and are not geared to tourists whereas we are at Mt Dare. At the moment the are cutting a new fence track and aren't at the
homestead.
Cheers

Ian,
People like myself really appreciate your efforts in sorting out a track across from
the twins to
camp 6.
Thanks again
Phil

Hi Ian,
As far as I know, we should have been on track for the detour, what do you think? If my track was OK and you have OziExplorer, I could send you a copy of our trek log. Like I said before, the only reason that we headed South, was to get those Magic figures on the GPS. You may even want to use our track as the main route. There were a couple of great
camping spots along the way. We will not be back up that part of the Simpson at this stage until the 2008 Season.
Keep up your great work and give our regards to Dave.

Hi Guys
Not sure if we are going to do the western half (west of
Hay river) or
eastern half (east of
Hay river) next season.
So follow these threads with interest.
Ian - By land bypass, do you mean crossing where the two parcels of land
intersect at a triangle at 53J 0591104 7244841 (east of line drawn between
camp 1A amd
camp) ?
Would anyone know who to contact on the other side camps 19 to 22 ?
Hema map has area marked
Annandale there.
Thanks
Robin Miller

Hi Robin,
That is the
intersection targetted for the bypass between
the Twins and
camp 6.
The eastern section permissions are controlled by Don Rowlands of Qld Parks in
Birdsville (for
Park section) and David Brook for the pastoral area north of the track from
Birdsville to Big Red on Adria Downs Station.
Cheers
Ian @ Mt dare
