Grandpa joe
Was wondering if any one had any ideas on where to get lost in nature for a couple of days
camping,4wding and fishing and not get into trouble for having old pooch enjoy it as
well?
All my favourite
places close to
Sydney Are National Parks where mans best friend isn't wellcome.

Not sure about NSW, but in VIC, the
State Forest parks allow hounds. That's where we go when we want to take the; wildlife raping, bush desecrating, waterways fouling, little 5kg Jack Russell Cross.
Funny how the Nat Parks authorities will fine you for having a
well behaved dog on a lead, but let obnoxiuos, feral, noisy drunks infest the campsites. Any wonder I plan to apply for a gun licence.

Grandpa joe,
Can't help you with exact locations but it looks like dogs are allowed into NSW State Forests as long as they are controlled.

Yep, I understand. Unfortunately there's plenty of dog owners out there that are still ruining it for the rest of us responsible types. I reckon my dog almost likes
camping as much as me!!! And we (the gf and I) take her everywhere we can - often missing out on some of the top spots because of it. To those that say leave her at home - it's not worth it; I say this: If they banned children in Nat Parks, how many of us would leave the kids at home just to see a waterfall etc?? *sigh* Unfortunatley though she will be getting left behind for the Cape trip next year - as
well as there being plenty of Nat Parks up there - I've read many
places that Crocs like the smell of dogs! ;-)
Cheers
Scoey!

Isn't it a real p##s off ? went to
Peaceful Bay last year {W.A.} theres NOWHERE you can take the dog , so in desperation we went into
Denmark tourist Info and asked the woman where we could take it {small Jack Russel} and she said theres nowhere along the south coast that allow dogs and off the record it's costing us a fortune as when they find out its a no go area for dogs, they dont comeback, I wonder why !!!

Joe
We take our 2 big dogs to
Keepit Dam, near
Tamworth, and
camp with our van in the
camping area.
ie away from the caravan
park and have no problem.
They get knocked up after an hour or so of running around and swimming.
It normally makes me thirsty just watching them. Although I did find the solution for that!
Regards Bob

hi grandpa joe as other people have said any
state forest in nsw i tend to go south of
sydney and pretty much have done all the
state forest to batesman bay and there is plenty of tracks to keep you very interested .With the
camping you can
camp any where you can find a spot but there is camps sites provide with
toilets.
Another piece of advice is do not rely on the
state forest maps because they hardly have any tracks on them so either get a topo one or a regional one as they have a lot more tracks

Watagans is a good place. only an hour or so nth of
sydney. Although when I was there the cmpsite was not maintained.... and had to clear a spot of dog poo to put up the tent. Also stayed at another up near nightcap NP and was a little cleaner but was a little dissapointed by the lack of control owners had on their dogs. I lost a steak from my barbie :(

G'day,
Few
places around. Wollondilly River Station out towards
Wombeyan Caves.
Glen Davis is a magic place, very quiet, out past
Lithgow. Also areas west of
Lithgow like
Palmers Oakey and Sunny and Dark Corners. There are some interesting bits of old gold mining country. Ophir near
Orange is first place they found gold, and place where gold for Olympic medals was mined. All ok to take dogs. be responsible with them though, roos, cattle, goats etc are all around.
Good luck ay

Fella,
Try the Colo River reserve - located about 12k's up the upper Colo Rd off the
Putty Rd. The Hawkesbury council administer the site therefore you need to book through them. A
ranger regularly patrols the place to evict trouble makers and charges a small fee per night,
Cheers,
Mark

Joe, the Manning
River campsite in the
Barrington Tops, or Telegherry near Dungog. Probably 3 hrs from
Sydney. Watagans is nearer but not much fishing unless you nip down to Lake Macquarie. Ferndale
Park also nr Dungog is a top spot. All allow doggies.
