Report on channel 7 news here in Sydney tonight, the NSW "rocket scientist "government( and you can back ya last buck that the brain dead Public Service have their snouts in the trough as well) is planning to lease out Jenolan Caves to a private cocern! Yes you heard me right, they are going to take what belongs to both the people of NSW and in fact Australia and hand it over to a private company on a lease basis. I know this state is cash strapped, but this is going to far in my books.
God fear if Macquarie Bank get thier gready paws on it.
Im about to send a letter to my local MP voicing my concerns, how about joining me guys before its too late. Bob Debus is the guy to write too.

The only plus side is that someone might manage it properly and give you some good service ( albeit at a price !!! )

Yep might be a plus, last time I was there the motel was an absolute disgrace not to mention the little if any service there was. Wont be going back any time soon. The caves were fantastic but that was all. Regards Steve M

Mr Debus compared the resort to Fawlty Towers in Parliament last year as he described complaints written by guests which described the hotel as "filthy" and "appalling".
You recon he is having a shot @ me??LOLOLOLOL
Something has to be done, Maurice is between a rock and a hard place what with all the tunnel problems he's created... Just got to hope that Debus gets the contracts written correctly. Jenolan has always been an expensive place to visit, has always been awkward to get to, always even as a kid the parking was a real problem & even the food there was tres ordinaire....
Just hope that private enterprise can lift the image of the place, Caves House is in need of serious work & one would think not all that profitable given food cartage & power costs...

Last time I was there, March it was, we demanded a refund, the sheets had blood stains on them, dirt & dust everywhere & the food appaling. Could not complain about the service though as there was none....

Government has had 100 years to run it properly, and have systematically stuffed it up. Maybe its time to give MacBank a go - they could not do worse.

Sorry - you get what you pay for, and we hate paying taxes.

You say let the fee factory have a go and then complain about govvy taxes? With That millionaires club running the place you will start getting invoices for air consumption!

I wouldnt wee on the accommodation in that place - not even 1 point off a star.

We had our honeymoon there, and the so called 4 star toilet, the bedheads werent even bolted to the bed... we found out what that banging sound on the wall was... They abused me when I threw the bedhead down the stairs... I informed them if thats was from their Super 5 star Honeymoon suite... No reply from said moron.

I have stayed in pubs for $20 a night that would eat that place and spit it out.

If I remember, they wanted $50 for breakfast for 2 of us! and that was part of a "shopper docket Special discount Weekend with upgrade for Honeymooners.

Good riddance to what ever runs it currently (as long as its the same as it was in 1999)

Guys,
Please dont get more wrong and in hindsight I should have been more specific, however my main concern is the future of the caves themselves. I dont give a continental about the guest house facility, I am concerned that if a private concern gets the complex in toto which I am sure they will, the admission price to the caves will sky rocket.
Its a wonder that the NSWNP havent had a crack at it?
