Ebay. Or I was lucky enough to get a speader pole from the local electricty company, they are fibreglass poles which keep the wires apart on their high tension line. Is about 1/2 inch fibreglass pole 3 metres ooing. Ideal.

We got ours at ARB it's a clip on unit like a quick release coupling, easy to but on and remove.

Richard,
Just glanced at your photo and realized I'd just posted the question to anybody that knew, what's the Kidson track conditions like and that's where your photo is. So could you fill me in on details and campspot to lookout for?
Probaly coming in from Well 33. and also what map gives the detailed info.
I see you've got the RIGHT truck now. :>)))
Have a good 1

Harry
We traveled it in 2005
The track was built in around 1963 and after the oil wells closed the Road would not have been maintained. But it is not a hard track, all sand hills were capped even that now the south sides are collapsed two wheel tracks only.
Some up north is overgrown but OK.

We only took two days from 80 mile beach cp to well 33, but I would take longer to do it again,

We used Hema northwest paper & digital maps + natmaps

There are two main camp spots (the 2 windmills) plus Swindell Field

Thay tell me the first mill north of well 33 has been done up and is called razor bore now,

there are some photos in PLACES on this site that show some of the camps and track, just type in Kidson or wapet

Now that's my kind of track, looks adventurous and definitely not boring.
When did you do that trip ? You'd want to be on the ball with those washouts.
The shot of Lennies ration truck brings back memories.
I was on the team that shifted the truck to that location in June '04 and in Aug I also did the Canning that year.
Can't see anything on my Hema about "the windmills", found Swindell field.
I'm on my 2nd Troopy and changing over to RV early next year.
Think I'll need it now with the camper behind
What sort of l/100 do you get.

Checked out that site link and the photos tell all.
Air-bags work well, don't they.
Be aware that the "U" bolts holding them on can loosen up and the bag moves, rubs and blows. We had that happen on the Hay River trip this year,( Northern Simpson) but 2 nuts instead of 1 on each side of the U bolt would stop that.
JUst make sure you carry your old bump stops if they aren't already in your spares.
Thanks for your great info, I'll lookout for you on the forum site.
Have a great "Aussee" day

I use an old 9 foot ugly stick. SWMBO made up a nice big flag from a couple of differnt coloured safety vests that were laying around. She sewed a shoelace to the flag and i simply tie the whole thing to the ugly stick.
When needed i just cabletie it to a upright on the bullbar, and when not needed, the ugly stick is a two piece, so it just goes in the back of the patrol.

Probably one from our last trip Extfilm.

Everybody took big poles of various description and all had a flag "incident".

We just took a kids bike flag. It was only one that survived.
Cheap and effective and could even carry it inside car.

Have some fun and make one and save ya self $80!!!

we used an extendable fishing rod ( a 10 foota with the top 2 extenda's cut off cos they were too flimsy) and just used 100 mile - an - hour - tape to hold it together when it was time to put her up, used the same stuff to keep it on the bullbar.....used one of nathans old bundaberg rum shirts that is bright yellow and kept the bundy sign on it!!!!

found some on ebay for around $70 - $80 but thought that a little personal touch was great!!!
