Hi All,
Are there any specific containers that you can out in an Engel to hold lettuce, tomoato, cheese etc etc inside it in sepaartate storage.
If anyone has found a combination of sizes that takes up the space or anyone selling it that way can you let me know.
Otherwise i guess you just go to a staorage place and mix and match, just wondered if anyone had put a combination together and was sellign it that way.
Engel in question is 60litre and i am in
Melbourne.
Any advice apprecaited.
Mark

Hi Shaka-dog (Shag-a-what???)
Pity you got an Engel, I had the same issue with my Weaco. Her indoors paid .50C at the local Sallys (Salvation Army) for a plastic basket that fitted it perfectly. Maybe you should have a look there?????

Shaka-Dog,
I also have a 60l engel and use some containers that I got out of the 10 man ration packs from my time in the Army.
I can fit about 10 of them in each basket although it gets a bit squeezy. The dimensions are 105mm wide, 140mm Long and 120mm high, they come with lids and I reckon that I still have about 100 of them sitting in my garage. I started with about 500 plus of them but most of my neighbours and family have nicked them. I'm in
Sydney so I'm a bit far from
Melbourne if you wanted some.
SWMBO would love me to get rid of a few more bits out of my garage. ha ha ha
Cheers Kev

Hi Shagger,
We have found that the use of containers seems to take up a lot of space with nothing. We have an Engel and use the genuine tray that sits across the top for stuff used regualrly like marg and everything else gets shuffled around below to suit the space available.

In our engel, we found a small wire basket which fitted across the basket and just flexi tied it on. It is shallow and holds the more fragile up the top while everything else roams around down below. Find the top shallow basket is also not so cold as the bottom so stiops tomatoes or marg etc from getting too cold while frozen meat etc stay on the bottom.

Mate,
Has the others have said the basket works
well for your dairy type products etc. We mainly use the good quality zip lock bags for food stuffs as it makes it far easier to pack and you can fit more in. The iother benifit is nothing really rattles away inside......

We use a couple of small laundry bags - one for the small items and the other for the vegies. The bags are nylon mesh and have a zip. We put them on top and the bag and contents take the shape of the goodies underneath. A good use of available space.

Hi Shaka_Dog, I have just got back from
camping and using my new 40lt Engel ( i should have got one earlier) anyway, we bought a Two Zone that locks on top of your Engel to keep the SALAD stuff fresh. see attached link www.twozone.com.au/
Works better than any container storage system, our tomatoes, lettuce etc stayed as fresh as the day we put them in.
A good compromise, the Missus has fresh SALADS and I have COLD BEER. Now that's a perfect marriage.
Cheers

he, he, he he, he !!!!!
I have a WAECO 110lt and use the cliplock type containers for all and sundry.
The good types have clips all round and any combination just about will fit. I am guessing they will only fit a WAECO so maybe you need to trade yours in for one...
Grrr!!!

thanks for all of your responses,
yea one thing i noticed this weekend away was all teh fruit and veg ended up at the tbottom of the fridges and was frozen. Thats not so bad for the emat it thaws out nicely over a flame but defrosted vegies just isnt the same.
The baskets across the top to keep things up higher sounds a ggod idea, but my Engel came with two wire baskets but both are the full depth of the fridge so always a pain getting things out as the bit you want is always at the bottom it seems.
Will try somehwre that sells storage stuff and see if the have a basket that fits across.
Catch you all later.

Mark,
I did a search on the Engel site and was surprised that they don't list a basket accessory. They used to market one.
Anyway, I purchased a white plastic coated wire basket that fitted perfectly across the fridge at one end and matched the full internal basket perfectly. Made up a couple of hooks out of stainless steel welding rod that slot onto the original basket and the small basket is suspended on these "S" shaped hooks, or lifted out when required.
I cannot remember the model number of the basket but it was purchased in the kitchenware section of BigW. Might be worth a visit for a looksee.
