G`day peoples, am leaving Melb soon for a little family trip up north to Innaminka via
Mildura,BrokenHill and
Cameron corner. My question is if i stop for first nights
camp at
Mildura(thinking
Horseshoe bend on river)and then driving past B/
hILL the next day does anyone know a good spot to
camp between B/
Hill and
Tibooburra?Would prefer to trackside
camp rather than approaching
homestead accomodation. p.s Have you camped at
Cullyamurra waterhole(Innaminka)....good spot?.....there 2 nights before heading down
Strzelecki track to F/Ranges.....any advise appreciated from you guys.

Jeremy,
Cullyamurra is an excellent camping spot (but pales when compared to
Coongie lake), near
Tibooburra there is camping just to the north of town (about 1km), or at
Fort Grey, nearer to
Cameron corner.
Cheers
Andrew

the dig tree out the other way.I`ll try to keep my options open and see when i get there, but its big hike for the kids as it is! ....thanks again jeremy.

I suggest going on to
wentworth and
camp on the murrey just south of town. Beautiful and you will be on your own.And should catch a yellow belly or Cod. no rules or
ranger Have a beer at the royal in town Ronnie andrews (essendon player from the 80's) did own it and great old fashioned pub.
good camping at the
silverton bush camp hot showers and only costs a few dollars. walk accross the dry riverbed to the pub, (an a dventure in itself)

There is a Lake between B/H and Tib, forget the name of it and no map handy, it's just south of
Packsaddle. You can
camp there for the night.

A bit more info. It's a fresh water lake on the western side of the road south of
Packsaddle Road House before the strip of Bitumen

Folks,
Just a little piece of advice - be "alert" when passing through
Wilcannia - some of the "Locals" dont seem too friendly to those passing through.
Some years ago wife was on a bus which got stoned as it passed through town, and last year one ambling across the road tried to make me stop.
If you must stop consider posting a guard on the vehicle , otherwise make your intention to pass through town very clear to any who try to get in the way.
Regards
Pete G

Jeremy,
I have stayed at
Mutawintji (Mootawingee is old spelling); it is worth 2 nights, and only 130klm from
Broken Hill, towards White Cilffs.
Plenty of space, hot showers (
bore water) and
toilets. Good walking at Aboriginal
rock art.
From there we traveled to
Fort Grey (Sturt Nat Park) via Tiborburra.
Don't miss a night at
Montecollina Bore on the way to Flinders from
Innamincka, I also highly recommend Chambers
Gorge for a night (between Arkaroola and
Wilpena Pound).
I was very dry when we visited, however after rain it would be a different place, and we will go again.
Have a great trip.
Thommo
