Jim
hi,
Can anyone out there give me some advice on what upgraded
suspension system to fit and who would be the most knowledgable and helpful installing it on the above vehicle?
I live in
Adelaide and am looking at a mild upgraded system about 2" raise etc.
Thanks and great
forum this.

Jim,
It will depend on what funds you can commit to the upgrade.
TJM (XGS brand) and ARB (Old Man Emu brand) are
well proven.
Shocks and longer springs will cost somewhere around $1200 fitted.
If finance is an issue, 4WD Systems can provide a generic brand of imported shocks (from canada) for somewhat less.
Basically, you need to decide what shocks to put on, larger diameter shocks will give superior dampening without fading due to overheating.
2"-3" is a common height increase to choose.

Thanks for that Sand Man,
I was thinking of old man emu and finance isn't an issue.
I pick up the truck from
Sydney next sat and already have plans for it.
Better keep the holes in my pockets to a certain size hey.

I went with a OME "Dakar"in my 62 series 2" over std height with h/duty springs infront due to steel B/bar, winch, D/Batts & medium duty in rear with Polyair bags inflated for towing camper as required. Used OME Nitro charger longer travel shocks & steering dampener all works
well for me for touring more than serious off roading. $1450 supplied and fitted about 2 yrs ago...... excl polyairs...
Cheers
Chris

Yes Chris,
I will have to consider the setup of my new truck and go from there i intend to do mostly touring with some medium to heavy off road use. I want to achieve a balanced set up that handles most amateur 4wding situations. and on road too.
Thanks for your input.
Jim.

OME Dakar springs are very good on the 60series. The price has come down since
the springs are now sourced overseas. Quality still looks very good.
Adelaide Offroad at Norwood are a good alternative to the main ARB shops.

G'day Jim, I think I would give Industrial Springs on the Port Road a call.
What they don't know about springs ain't worth knowing.
No association with them except a bit of business over the years.
I haven't been there for over 10 years though.
They haven't got the aussie wide name recognition, but they know the business.

Yep, I've used Industrial Springs for most of my previous LandCruisers - great mob. Interesting enough, I went down there for my 79series to ask what they had, and they said if I wanted to carry very heavy loads, they had the stuff, but if I wanted a comfortable ride, I'd be better off with ARB. So I went ARB.
But my father-in-law's 60 series had its original springs reset and an extra leaf added by them, and its been sitting up nicely for the past 15 years without a problem.
