Hi Has anyone with first hand knowledge of Warroora Station just south of Coral Bay. Is it just a younger surfer spot or OK for families. Is there good safe swimming and snorkeling. I heard that as it has no facilities you are required to have your own chemical toilet? Any info appreciated Peter.

Warroora is beachside camping. It is located 14 miles Nth of the actual homestead. The beach is very exposed and the sea breeze there quite literally tries to blow you off the face of the Earth. Having said that, if you do go there at the right time of the year it can be idyllic.

There are very basic facilities there and a caretaker during the "season". When we went there the demographic was older travellers, some of whom stay there for extended periods. There isn't a lot to see, so activities are usually fishing, boating and other aquatic pursuits. However, when it blows, these pursuits are impossible and a lot of time can be spent huddled behind whatever windbreak you can avail yourself of. A fair bit of grog gets drunk on these occasions...

The access track is a bit rough, someone in a 2WD Holden Ute had split their sump trying to get there when we visited. 4WD's would get in easily enough - even with a caravan.

I'm told the best time is late April thru to late May and again in the Spring before the summer breezes start. We we there in early April last year and to be honest, we had a horrible time and bolted after putting up with the breeze for a couple of days. It didn't stop, day or night.

Peter,

Russell above refers to what we call north Warroora (ugly caravans parked on beach),
The south end of Warroora station (south of the creek) is a surf location - the demographic is very much different - much the same as red bluff. Remote camping.
The popular surf is a mile offshore (accessible by dingy).

We camped there in our trip in 2005. Much prefered it to Coral Bay which we did a day visit from Warroora. Coral Bay very commercial and expensive. Caugtht some great fish off the beach. Only regret was that we decided we were not going to put the boat in there. Next time. Yes you do need a chemical toilet but so does the camping places futher north than Coral Bay where you can hire if you dont have one.
