Yes, It is designed to collect dust on the mantle piece, but with it's unique design, the dust will slide down the sides so it can gather more dust and therefore defer the cleaning schedule out to every two years.

Is it the new Pick A Place prize?

Now that brings back memories.

Somewhere, probably in my Dad's old brief case, there is an autographed photo of a young boy sitting on the wall of the Archibald Fountain with Andrew Cowan. The young boy is looking quite sheepish and feeling just a little uncomfortable.

From memory the lad was not fully sure how to respond. He felt like he should be in awe of this man sitting beside him, after all he had just won a race from London to Sydney in a Hillman Hunter, but really he was just confused as to how he should react, what he should say and what it all meant.

My Dad was a bit of a fan of Andrew Cowan even before the L - S Marathon the opportunity to look at his car and meet the man himself was more than he could have wished for. He is far more proud of that photo than the young boy was, but as the boy gets older that is changing and he is far more interested now than he was back then.

Well done Duncs!
You sparked some distant memories for me too - as a kid, I watched the rally go through Nowra - not far from where Bianchi crashed his Citroen when leading the rally on the last stage.
Awesome rally - when it is won by Cowan in a Hillman Hunter; Paddy Hopkirk's Austin 1800 came second and Falcon GT third. Porsche could only manage 4th!!

That says a lot about the ability of Cown and Hopkirk as drivers.
