Spent the afternoon at friends place, enjoying some wine and food and good company.
(Didn't venture away this Easter)
Well, one of our sets of friends threw the topic of a trip up the centre then anticlockwise into the Kimberley area of FNWA in a year or two's time.
OK I said, we'll be in that. Oh Boy! Oh Boy!

We have both been up the centre to the Alice and Darwin, etc., (separately) but haven't been to the Kimberley, or Pilbara regions. May only be able to experience one of them this time round but hey, I'm not complaining.

The only thing that is better than a trip into remote areas of the Country, is one where you can share it with close friends. Makes any trip that much better I think.
So now we have another good trip to plan for:-)

Must be something in the choccy eggs and a bottle of Bundy and a BBQ, we too have come up with the makings of a trip for next year.

From Karratha to Halls Creek, the Buchanan Hwy, across to Cloncurry, up to Normanton and across and up to Weipa, back down to Cooktown and the coast road to Cairns, then the Table lands, down to Longreach, back up to Lawn Hill NP,across to Borroloolla then the Roper, Mataranka, Katherine, Broome then home, hopefully we can do this in 3 months,..... but now the planning starts!!

Taking good friends who have never been out of WA, it will be an eye opener for them!

We made plans this Easter as well....for next Easter. We will have already started our long term travels by then, but we have decided to be at Cooma next Easter for the Land Rover 60th anniversary celebrations. Apparently there were 800 Land Rovers and their owners at the 50th celebrations and they are expecting more next time.

I'm not a Land Rover nut in the strictest sense of the word, but I reckon it'll be worth a look. Besides, we haven't been to Cooma since the late 70's.

We were planning to be at Tamworth for the country music festival so we'll just hang around the general vicinity until Easter.

Might just join you Russ, prior to heading north for the winter...in the D3, which looks increasingly like the choice.

We did similar with our camping buddies just a week or 2 ago. We planned a trip to Inamincka in June this year, about 2 years ago! Then the other week, even before our June trip, we decided on Tassie for 4 weeks in November 2008, and The Simpson in 2009! May not be real adventures destination wise compared to some plans out there, but with both families having 2 kids under 4 each, it's gonna be an adventure!

Happy planning Sandman, its a big part of the trip which you enjoy the longest!
