Only 8 Weeks to go before we head of to the Simpson via the SA gathering in the Flinders.
Question 1. I head out of Oodnadatta to Hamilton then Delhousie & Mt Dare for fuel refill. To save covering the gound from Delhousie to Mt Dare twice, can I go to Mt Dare via Eringa & Bloods Creek or would this add too much in the way of KM.
Question 2. The road from MT Dare to Alka Selzer bore requires a permit. Who from ? Thought that this may be another way to go if permit was avail.

Hi Vince,

From Oodnadatta you can come via Hamilton and then onto Eringa waterhole (the station Sydney Kidman owned) that is splendid with water at the moment and then the ruins at Bloods Creek ( Ted Colsons old station) before getting to Mt Dare. After Mt Dare you can go to Dalhousie via Federal so as to not double up on tracks.

The Homelands track past Oasis and Alka Seltzer Bore is through aboriginal homelands and is closed for normal traffic and used only in an emergency during flooding. For permission try Dean Archee, the ranger at Dalhousie Springs.

Hope this helps, the desert is a delight at the moment.
Regards
Ian @ Mt Dare

hey Vince,

No need to book camping but do need to book accomodation or meals. If in doubt give us a bell from Oodna.
Cheers
