So.... a while since I asked about advice on what travellers wanted in a
laundromat.... got lots of advice. Some warning of the pitfalls.
Empty
shop... no tenants forthcoming, so I've decided to go ahead and set up a
laundromat. As we speak.... a truck is bringing washers and dryers from near
Coffs Harbour and some from
Sydney to my
shop in Rosedale... Gippsland Vic. Very exciting... worst case scenario, I'll have a bigger debt and some machines to sell in a year or so..
But to the reason I am leaping into the
forum tonight. Bit strange.. but then so am I.... I a room at the side to the
shop.... I have decided to open up a TEDDY BEAR
SHOP!!!!
I need you to tell me the best name for this
shop.... What would make a weary Explore-oz traveller pull over and spend a minute in such a
shop??
By all means suggest a random name.... but I have this list based on my late Mother-in-law's interest in bears... I'd love to have a quick survey from you burley blokes and adventurous ladies.... What's the best name out of these:
Nan's Bears,
Nanny's Bears,
Bet's Bears,
Betty's Bears,
Nan's Teds,
Nanny's Teddys,
or your random selection.
Bit crazy I know.. but the idea came to me as I toured Tassie just before
Easter. I filled in a day at Sorell Market and started buying white bears [International Polar Year... polar bears] and then went onto other bears and ended up filling up most of the back of the Supatrupa! Got a coupla hundred.....
Cheers Royce

Hi Royce,
Some suggestions from a Teddy Bear Maker from way back...........
You need to have a name that hits people in the face, and something that springs to mind.......we have just been travelling in south western NSW. Every time we drove past "Rev Em Up Motors" at
Mudgee, my Tone would say "I reckon that's a top name"...........now we always remember that Rev Em Up Motors is at
Mudgee, and always remember where it is too, whether we will ever need Rev Em Up Motors............that's another matter, but people will see your Bear
shop and tell others........."I saw this realy cute bear
shop at..............."
Now some names I came up with are:
Miss Bettys Bears
Miss Bettys Teddies
Bears on ????? Street (wherever his
shop is)
Bears Back Side (Tone's suggestion!!)
Bear On The Side
Teddy Bears @ ????? (town where you live)
Bettys Bear Attic
Bettys Teddy Bear Cottage
Bettys Bear Affair
Bears Till You Drop (as in
shop till you drop!)
Teddy Bears Awash ( next to
laundromat)
Hope this helps............cheers Jennie

Royce,
Saw a
sign out side a pub in Tasmanian that said The Worst pub in Australia. Ever one stopped to see why.
The new name could be what ever you decide, say,
Nan's Bears. "The Worst Bear
Shop In Victoria."
With the
laundromat next door
"Bear All and Wash"
