Hi
I am new to this site. I am actually here to ask if anyone has been to The Lynd Station - or near it - as I am researching it for my family tree. Apparently my grandmother was christened there after being born on the banks of Pandanus Creek. My great grandfather was a roo shooter by trade so may have worked on the station. I am trying to find out as much information as possible about it - and maybe even manage to get in contact with the current owners to see if they have any records of workers etc or photos. Any help with this would be most appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read this

I assume your refering to Pandanus Creek south of Greendale (not the NT).

I'm not familar with Lynd Station, but some of these properties maintain a station log which can date back many decades.

Contact the owners. I'm sure they'll help you. The following may help:

Eliza FRANCIS , born 26 Nov 1891 in Biarra QLD; deceased 3 Dec 1967 in Brisbane QLD. She married on 26 Dec 1912 in Biarra QLD, James Henry ANDISON , born 10 Oct 1877 in Lynd Station NTH QLD; deceased 26 Aug 1965 in Brisbane QLD, son of Walter Scott and Martha (WEST) ANDISON .

Kim

Hi Kim
Yes it is the one in Qld. But unfortunately, that is not the family I am looking for. My grandmother was born in 1912 and their surname is Anderson.
I am hoping to find the current owners to see if they have one of those logs you mentioned. Heres hoping...
Thanks for replying though

Amanda

Be aware that names can change over time. My sister has spent more than a two decades trying to establish our linage in the bush.

If you provide me with more advice on the station I'll give them a ring and forward the information to you via this forum.

I'm sure you'll get a lot of help and advice from others on this forum.

Regards

Kim

Hi again Kim
Unfortunately I know nothing about the station at all, just the name.
On my grandmothers birth certificate it says she was born at Pandanus Station - but the story goes that her father was taking her mother to town to have the baby ( mother was 7 months pregnant) when, due to all the bouncing in the wagon, she went into labour and my grandmother was born on the banks of Pandanus Creek. Her father wrapped her in bark, and continued on to town. On my grandmothers death certificate, it says Pandanus Creek was her place of birth. I'm not sure if there was a station called Pandanus Station, or if they just put that on the certificate. My grandmother was baptised when she was about 4 months old and on that certificate, it says the baptism was held at Lynd Station, in the parish of Georgetown and that their abode was Lynd Station, where her father was a kangaroo shooter. That's all I know about the station. Not much help...
I'll give you all their details just in case:-
father - Frances Frank Anderson, born 1876 Rockhampton
mother - Jessie (nee Nicol) born 1891 Muttaburra
my grandmother - Florence Anastasia Anderson, born 23 Feb 1912, baptised 25th June 1912.
Thanks so much for taking the time to try to help.
Regards
Amanda

P.S The only other thing I can think of is to try to contact the BP Oasis Roadhouse at Lynd Junction and see if they know who the owners are - I'm still searching for an address or phone number for them...

Hi MUZBRY,
I have actually been in contact with the person who that belongs to and unfortunatley she also knows nothing about the actual station, only that her ancestor was born there.
Thanks for replying :)
