Hi all, we (mum dad 3 kids aged 4 - 11) will be in Canberra next week and are looking for a good park to pitch the tent, any suggestions? We've looked at a few on Badgers which have not recieved good reviews, but the reports are a few years old so things may have changed.

So if you know a good place, please let us know.

thanks,
PJ.

Hi Paul,

Why not try Johnny's place down at Kirribilli House.
There's a very good chance he'll be chasing the family vote very soon so he and Janette might give you a prime spot on their lawn.
Just make sure you haven't got Peter C with you.

Kirribilli House is in Sydney !!
Maybe you mean 'The Lodge"..
Another option would be on the lawn in front of the old Parliament House..You could really set the tent up and have a camp fire!!

Why not signman, wouldn't be the first time. I seem to recall a few of the "brudda's" doing just this not long ago.

Cheers Trevor.

Hi,

I'm from Canberra and I'm sorry to say there is not much choice for you here!!!!

The cotter would be nice, but is a little out of town. Depends what you are doig here.
There are a few caravan places in Sutton, which is just before you hit Canberra coming from Sydney direction, but dont expect too much from them :)

Here is the contact number for ACT Forests Camping Areas 02 62072486. They might be able to help you with more info.

There would probably be somewhere to camp in Tharwa, but it is way over the other side of Canberra towards Cooma. You could try Caloola Retreat on 02 62357226 or Birrigai 02 62056748. Or, if you are coming to visit friends, I would use there back yard! Sorry, Canberra sux for camp spots! In my opinion, the Cotter would be the nicest.

Oh, and dont forget your warm clothes! It's very cold at night here!

Enjoy your stay!
