Hi, David and the team,
Firstly let me congratulate you on a very information packed web site.
I was wondering if it may be possible to insert the name of the town where the member resides in topic line of a thread.
I find myself wondering where in Qld other members live. I'm in Wynnum and the person to whom I'm talking to could be just around the corner. I don't feel that there would be any breach of personal security by knowing where members are from.

Kevin

No I don't think that is a good idea.

Whereas all things may seem sweet and rosy on the Forum it goes pearshaped at times and some animosity may be displayed by contributors towards others. This could lead to direct confrontation if it was known where someone lived, especially in smaller towns.

Saying that, most people know where I live by now as I am a regular here on the forum and due to frequent posts since 2002 my town of residence has become known. I have only met good people through EO and have made many friends but I do have detractors on this forum and one can never tell what someone else is capable of given the right circumstances. It is an unknown quantity.

Cheers

You are probably right Willem. The standards of society are deteriorating and I suppose this even extends to the 4WD community. Forget I mentioned it. I am glad that the subject line does show that I live in the best state in Australia (sic) I will have to be happy with that.

Willem, with the way that some are already known on here and the way the names are bantered around, with Google or White Pages online it is easy to find people everywhere. There isn't much privacy these days with Google. I even know where to find my email address too aside from some address books on computers. I am with you Bro.

Kevin, you have the option to let others know where you are by changing your 'screen name' in 'my profile'

Thanks for the information. It was easy when you know how. I've seen your 'screen name' before and wondered why it wasn't the same as all the others. Thanks again.
