Hi all -we recently discovered
Longreach Waterhole near Elliot in NT. What a truly magical place that was for birdlife! I found 16 types of waterbirds. It also had one of the most amazing sunsets while we were there.
I was wondering if anyone knows of other waterholes/waterways that have good birdlife? We prefer the out-of-the-way
places & good if you can fish too! !
cheers Nari

Thank you! Gee we were going to Parry's
Lagoon but it was pouring with rain & they closed the road! As they did the
Gibb River Road when we were there (back in June )!!

Yes, it's a beaut spot. Heaps of migrating birds there and very scneic with the lagoons etc.
The spot at
Camooweal is OK,
free camping on the banks etc. Coming in from the west you turn Right just before the bridge coming into town.
Also nice to watch the horses swiimming in the laggon too.
The used to be a beaut
camp site near
Fitzroy Crossing on the Geiki Gorge Road at Brooking Springs. Brooking springs is a large cattle station. They had a shower/
toilet set up and charged minimal amount for
camping.

waterhole, but very windy few days & not many birds at the time. Was a pretty place to
camp tho.

hi Squizzy - have had a look at a few of the websites. What a wealth of information collected! Not only about birds but ideas of where to go and notes about the
places. Someone has been vey busy and passionate about what there is out there.
Thankyou for sharing that with me!
