Went to
Newcastle Sat morning & returned today, monday, nearly
1000k on our Nations most used highway. Number of Police vehicles ,of any description sighted ? Yep, you guessed it...NONE.
Plenty of trailers on the side of the road telling me to be wary of
increased police patrols & other assorted warnings. Sat on the limit mostly & joyed to report that 13 year old Peugeot still returns
14 K to a litre. No, not diesel, & auto as
well. Aint life grand ?
A merry & safe Christmas to all.....oldbaz.

Police presence would lead to people slowing down and then the speed cameras would catch less people, hence decreased govt revenue.

I want to know why they have to put signs up before a fixed speed camera. It make it a bit pointless with cars slowing for that short period then increasing once past the camera.
I say make them all hidden and make it illegal for GPS's to have the locations pre programmed.
Cheers Kev
who may cop some flack

I travelled the pacific highway on Wednesday last week from
Sydney to Woolgoolgaand saw 5 police vehicles actively patrolling. Only two were the standard white set up. The others were a
bright Orange colour, a Black one and a green one. In the past week I have also come across a Blue one that patrols north of
Coffs Harbour to at least
Grafton.
Although the previous weekend I drove up and back from
Sydney and Woolgoolga and saw none, so it is a bit of luck of the drawer.
Cheers Kev

Everyone knows the police all take their holidays before Christmas/New Year so they can be on patrol when all the idots are really loose on the roads.
Its also cheaper to put a trailer on the side of the road than have a patrol car cruising up and down the freeway.

Police do not take their holidays before christmas....
I drove
Sydney -
Tamworth - Pt Mac - Forster - Central Coast -
Sydney last week...and saw about 10 Police cars.
Either you drive with your eyes closed, or the cop car was 2 km behind, or in front of you. They are always there mate, just sometimes a little in front or behind...goes to reason.
I saw 3 going over the Moonee bridge, both marked and unmarked and you would never have picked the unmarked one except he had someone stopped with the red/blues going !!!
Doesn't matter what they do they are always damned...too many and people whinge about being booked, or not enough and people complain ?????

Dunco,
lighten up mate, getting a little wound up, it was a joke. Obviously they weren't out at the same time that Oldbaz was.
You can drive the length and breadth of the M1 here in south Queensland and not see a single patrol car, only radar traps.
I don't worry about them because I don't speed. There is never one around when you see a real tosser on the road running amuck anyway.

Hey Dunco, you're right about people being hard to please. Another instance of this lately has been fuel prices.....
People whinge and carry on (via the ACCC etc and the Current Affairs shows etc) saying that there is no petrol price competition....all the servo's change their prices at the same time and are all the same price.
Then, a couple of days ago, there was this bloody hue and cry on the same media show.....berating some servo cos they were dearer than the one around the corner by 10 cents a litre or something like that. DOH!!!! That's the "competition" they've been ranting on about.....
You just can't win!!!

You can please some of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time, but you can NEVER PLEASE ALL of the people ALL of the time.

The most appropriate person to lodeg a (formal) complaint with is the Local Area Commander. You will get a reply.

DIO,
I'm a bit confused - why would you want to complain about seeing no police cars on a stretch of Hwy???

Oldbaz,
The cops are around, they just leave good citizens like you alone. If you're feeling left out, try putting your foot down.

They are out and about:
Talk about being in unmarked patrol cars, saw two in EA falcon
sedan the other day. It might pay not to look out for the latest and greatest.

Hmmm... Last Sunday I drove from MEL to ADL and whilst unusually, there was only one Vic Cop to be seen (I swear they breed on the Western Highway), there were about eight SAPOL cars and bikes from the border to the city...
Cheers
Andrew who is just entertained watching for them, whilst crawling along in the 1HZ

Sorry Chaps,
The less visible the cops are the better [and safer].
eg: your happily cruising along, not a care in the world when suddenly you spot one.
- you drop the phone out of sight,
- put your smoke in the ashtray,
- throw the half eaten burger to one side,
- sling your seatbelt on,
- drift back over to the left side of the road,
-
check the speedo,
- then when you see the white of his eyes...pretend you havent
noticed him.
All this has to happen within 2.5 seconds otherwise your a gon'er.
Get rid of them and let us manics drive in peace, I say....LOL.
Cheers.....Lionel.
