For any caravanners thinking of spending Christmas
free camping at the popular beachside area of
Norval Park just north of
Bundaberg in Queensland ... forget it!!
Oh, and the 4WD track has been blocked off by giant boulders, too.
Generations have enjoyed the festive season among the dunes at this idyllic spot, but Burnett Shire Council seems to have forgotten the Christmas spirit and have just erected signs banning overnighting there. Heavy penalties apply to anyone breaking the new rules.
Great timing, eh!!!
I feel sorry for the people who will turn up for their annual holiday only to find they can't pitch their caravans or tents there ... at a time when all caravan parks in the area will be full to overflowing.
Scrooge lives!!!

Its a crying shame, the whole Burnett Shire Council ought to be lined up and shot. Speaking of a money hungry and corrupt lot!!! Good in wasting rate payers money by the bucket full and building themselves monuments in
Bargara.
Services are bad, Councilors are not prepared to listen and don't seem to care.
Thanks for nothing you morons, hope you will get all sacked when the shires will amalgamate.
Merry Christmas to anyone else, pass on the word to our interstate friends before the have to find out the hard way....
Cheers, Udo

Hi Cruiserman1961.
If the council had their way I am sure they would also ban
camping along the Kinkuna stretch of beach.

Howdy Vince,
unfortunately they have closed Kikuna and Coonar beach as
well already. There is no
free camping anywhere anymore. Good timing too, dont you reckon?
Leaves a lot of people stranded this year because of the self importance of those pencil pushers.
Goodbye free country, welcome developers, hey.....
Bloody shame!

Tasmania could teach the mainland councils a thing or two. The free camps there mean money spent in the nearby towns, particular along the lovely
bay of fires coast to the north of
St Helens which bring a lot of trade to
St Helens.
These Qld councils are about as archaic as the shire where i live when it comes to recognising the dollars that the growing number of campers and caravaners bring into communities where good free camps are.
