Hayley
There's a little rest area with a toilet block just over the old bridge on the Northern end of town, not sure if camping is allowed though

Speaking of Charleville

We hears a great band from there a few years ago - 3 young fellows ( 2 were brothers) BRB

Basalt River Boys or Basalt River Band

Anyone know about them ? They seem to have vanished from any gigs down south

They usually play at the Tamworth Music Festival at the Longyard Hotel (near the Golden Guitar)
I missed the festival last year so I din't know if the were there last year, but they were definately there the year before.

Went to their websit but not updated - hoping a Charleville local might through some light on the sceen

Hope you find somewhere to stay

Bye Bye,

With responses like that from you, is it any wonder you didn't get any more responses??

If you try calling the Visitor Information Centre this morning during your drive there they should be able to assist (If open)

Well said Kev.
There is plenty of camp sites (with water views) on the Tweed at present.
I think the rain is heading your way.

Vince,

It is comming down in Bucket fulls at the moment (actually has been for the last 36 hours).
I took Ashley (the eldest daughter who is 4) to Bunnings this morning so she could play in the play ground whilst I killed time having a browse ha ha.
I got home and she crashed out for over an hour. I don't know what her mother's problem was about her driving her up the wall yesterday LOL

I think I'll take her for a walk in a minute to the beach in her new gum boots, to wear her out again before she gets to restless

Cheers Kev

Kev,
It appears the rain has stopped for now.
We had a great week on the Mann river(only rained for 1 day) but I am glad we packed up & headed home.
Met up with WA members Russ nSue & had a few enjojable drinks around the camp fire.
Regards.

It will be interesting to see if West Kunderang gets flooded as well, it is only 2 weeks away so it may still be a bit wet.

Kev.
A few members of our 4wd club just spent 9 days down at West Kunderang. From the photos, it really looks a great spot. Not unlike Mann river but with a harder access.
Regards.

I just heard on the news the Pacific highway is closed at South Grafton due to flood waters, I'd hate to be travelling that way today.

You're probably back by now and I hope you found somewhere to camp in Charleville. We've just got back from Goondiwindi, Bourke, Cunnumulla, Eulo, Charleville and Chinchilla.

In Charleville we stayed at the Bailey Bar Caravan Park.

There are limited other options in the area but this place was fantastic. Great hosts (David & Janette are currently filling in for holidaying owners and they are absolute legends. Asks anyone who's ever stayed with them at Mitchell where they were based until recently) shady grounds and a great, quiet location.

I know it's a caravan park but you can find a quiet corner and think you were in the middle of nowhere.
